Got a bit Free time today, so i decided to do a small comparison on my 3DS XL using downlaod version of MK7 and PES2013.

    Test Unit:
    - 3DS XL ASIA, Blue (MK7 Preinstalled)
    - 8GB Sandisk Ultra II Class 4 (3 Year Old Card - bought 35usd back then)
    - 8GB Sandisk Ultra Class 10 (bought today, only 9usd)
    - Timing Stopwatch (built in android)

    -------------------------------------------
    TEST RESULT: (in seconds)
    ------------------------------------

    Preliminary Conclusion:
    - No Significant Difference in Loading Time between both Card (Class 4 vs Class 10)
Later at Home, i will add Test Result from original 4GB Lexar Card. (Class 4)
(if you want to contribute result, it will be better :) )

UPDATE: TEST TO INCLUDE ORGINAL LEXAR 4GB Class4 (THAN INCLUDED WITH 3DS XL)

    Note:
Startup 3DS: from power button press until all sdcontent icon appear on main menu

    MK7
Startup: from icon click until MK7 main menu appear
Loading: Grandprix from chosing OK to race (after choosing character/car) until pre-race cut-scene appear
Go to Race: from pre-race cut-scene until race screen appear (prior coundown)
Exit: from pause menu, exit until 3ds main menu appear
    PES2013
Startup: from icon click until "Load" Appear
Close: from PES main menu, exit until 3ds main menu appear

(no loading time measure, as virtually no loading screen on PES2013)

Very interesting, if you're not busy could you test the actual OS of the 3DS i.e the time it takes to load the notifications, internet browser, notes, friends etc?

Class speed is minimum write speed. By no way it is an accurate indicator of read speed (specifically random read speed which matter the most).

on my HP ProBook 4530s Laptop, using built in SD Reader,

    Read Speed (sequential)
    the Class4 Sandisk Read @ 16-17Mbps
the Class10 Sandisk Read @ 27-29 Mbps << the new card is higher on read

    Write Speed
    the Class4 Sandisk Write @ 12-14Mbps
the Class10 Sandisk Write @ 9-12Mbps <<< the new card is lower on write

Both are formatted using Panasonic SDFormatter tool 3.1 prior testing.

It would be interesting to see if there's a difference between the times of a SD card and an actual cartridge.

maybe someone with MK7 cartridge can confirm the result,
    with the same testing method.

    MK7
Startup: from icon click until MK7 main menu appear
Loading: Grandprix from chosing OK to race (after choosing character/car) until pre-race cut-scene appear
Go to Race: from pre-race cut-scene until race screen appear (prior coundown)
Exit: from pause menu, exit until 3ds main menu appear

Test UPDATE to include 4GB Lexar that came with 3DS XL

Another Finding, test using Sonic Racing Transformed Demo, i found that using the 4GB LEXAR better framerate and less lag, compared with both Sandisk.

    weird...

BTW: Sonic Racing Transformed, is the cartridge version better framerate, or just the same? anybody try??

Did you use panasonic formatter on this SD card too? I've actually had that induce lag on one of my cards.

I didn't do it before because I'm sick (dengue fever) but since today I got a little better:

Mario Kart 7 - Cartridge version

    Startup - 10.15
    Loading - 9.31
    Go to Race - 6.66
Exit - ???? (didn't get how to measure this one)

Do you have random read speed? 3DS doesn't care about sequential read speed.
