From review and checking around a lot here are my conclusions.
scone has a better cheat system
r4 has faster updates but then again the scone gets them also just a tad slower.
price r4 is cheaper. by a bit like 3-8$ depending on where ya look
game compatability same
download play same
scone has old moonshell?
scone has more interactiveness, like more to do with touch screen. From what I saw the r4 only has the first 3 menu buttons? i dunno.

so in the end it seems to be imo scone is the best but I'd like to get your input also. And please no (insert card here) IS THE BEST 'CAUSE IT JUST OWNS.

the only thing I'm worried about is the moon shell thing and updates but what can they really add to these cards? they basicly have everything. execpet for sdhc but hey its an older model and a lot cheaper than cyclods so what can ya expect.
Thanks for your input.

ahh posted this in the wrong one i wanted to post this in the main one. But I was kinda aiming for r4 fan boys to throw in something that might change my mind about the scone.. But by making these topics you learn more about the items from people like slow mo(which i thought cyclo ds was the only one with that feature). So far scone 1 r4 zip. Is there anyone that can move this?

Also SC One looks cooler to me atleast the menu i saw looks great
But i dont really care as long i can boot games im happy

about the 'moon thing'

it's that the scds1 has it menu built around an older version of moonshell.. but you can run any moonshell you like as homebrew, if you want to.

Next update is supposed to update moonshell.

I've bought 5 ds one cards as I prefer them, the updates are a little slower but for me most things work without them.

I'm considering an EzFlash3-1 to combine with it for GBA games aswell but not a major thing right now.

Only problem I've had is the save saver overwriting my last save.

Pretty much all the flashcarts have the same compatibility, and whatever features are on one will migrate to the rest eventually.... perhaps not the integrated moonshell that is used on the sc1 which natively supports mp3/dpg but as you rightly said it is an older version at this time.. hopefully it will be updated soon, but you can run the latest by installing it as homebrew anyway. At the minute the sc1 is ahead of the r4 for functionality with the in game guides/slow motion and homebrew reset, but the configurability is more advanced, where as the r4 has dumbed down some of the options you can choose how they work on the sc1 like actual saver sizes rather than using 512KB for every game. To me the only downside to the sc1 is the fact it is picky with micro sd cards toshiba kingston and pny (jap) would be the recommended brands. Until the latest update skinning was awkward but that has also been resolved. It all comes down to personal preference in the end... I use an sc1 and N-card clone having sold the r4 some time ago.

I think the Scone is slightly better, but only slightly. I personally don't think it's worth the extra money... But you'll have to decide that for yourself.

I also think the R4 is slightly easier to use. You don't have anything to configure, it's just a simple menu in which you choose games. The question is whether that's good or not...

IMO the scds1's ace card is the 'real time' AR/Dipstar cheat engine.. it is the only cart that has this feature with no slow-down. Sets it apart from all the others.

It also has the posibility to read a text(a guide for example) while you are playing a game. It's the only card that has this feature. It's also the only card that can soft reset almost every homebrew without patching it

The main thing to remember with the SC DS One is that it tends to crash and burn with slower microSD cards, so a fast Japanese-made one is highly recommended. The comments here have been pretty accurate really.

Hmmm...I thought SC was meant to be tricky? Don't you have to tell it the save to use or something ?

Anyway R4 is definitely the best card at the moment, if all you want to do is play DS roms. (Homebrew or backups of your games.

If a newer game is not in the game database, you'll need to tell it the size of save to use. Of course, you can just be safe and use 512 kb for each, like the R4 does. The next firmware update will then probably include data for the games released since the last update.

r4 has auto save type, and you dont have to press a button for each game you want to download play on.

How interesting... same on the Sc1 ... your point? The Sc1 has the advantage by being able to use the correct saver sizes by updating the ndsrominfo.dat which is maintained unofficially by smurf and updated officially periodically... You can set it manually for new games but not necessary as otherwise it defaults to 512KB.. using correct sizes saves space wasted by the R4.

Download fix is one menu item and its either on or off.. not set per game.. I can only surmise you got that misinformation by reading fanboy posts!

QUOTEAnyway R4 is definitely the best card at the moment, if all you want to do is play DS roms. (Homebrew or backups of your games.

Noobix - Why is the R4 better when it has less features and configurability and the inbuilt disadvantage of using largest size saves for all games, no soft reset for homebrew, no ingame guides? I really am interested in why R4 owners believe this.

As I haven't used an R4 since cheats were available I can't say for sure but have heard R4 suffers from slowdowns when cheats are enabled. Is this correct?

I wouldn't say the R4 is bad just far from the best... The Sc1 hasn't always been the quickest to be updated but it has loads of features has matured into a fantastic cart..
