Is there a method of getting the new firmware features onto the Wii but still with the bug holes inplace?
I'm especially interested in the faster reading times but i don't want to leave the safety of v3.2e.

The newest (though timewise it's actually rather old) Wii firmware version is 3.4, this has a few improvements from the safest v3.2 such as:
# Dramatically increased SD transfer speeds
# Improved disc reading
# Photo Channel updated to 1.1-A
# Also added "Internet Channel" typing features. (Example: hitting the " - " (minus) button now acts as a backspace when naming new Miis.)
# USB keyboard support in Mii Channel. {Hopefully this also includes the internet channel, OSK typing is really annoying}

Does anyone know if updating to 3.4 then downgrading again to 3.2 keeps these features?
WOW my first question in god knows how long!

"no if there was there would be a post when you search for it explaining how to do it. the stickies and the search button exist for a reason"

Just because it is not written, does not mean it can't be done.

Besides I Googled, not much luck, so I went more specific.

Couldn't you effectively use wad installer with ios 16 to downgrade other ios's or even use ios wads with cioscorp (not too familiar with cioscorp nor how it works but i thought i remember seeing a download for all the cios.wads). Or would 3.4 firmware automatically re-update to the patched 3.4 ios's. Unsure as I've stayed on 3.2 for like forever.

CIOSCORP, I googled that and found no true answer, only:

"It is a pack of cIOS wads"

But what cIOS wads, chances are I already have them installed.
But if not it could be whats stopping my backup loading, seeing as my DVD's work perfectly in MPlayer.

My system:
Anyregion Changer downgraded to v3.2e
IOS downgraded to the Truca bugged IOS versions
cIOS36 rev 07 installed
IOS38-64-v3609 (for WiiSpeak channel)
IOS16 (used when downgrading from 3.3e to 3.2e)

Latest Switch 2 leak says it will have a LCD, not OLED, run most games 40fps max, and only be 1.5 tflops handheld, 3 tflops docked. That's less than the steamdeck at 1.71 handheld, 3.1 docked.

  • console @ console:
Switch 2 LCD is about like TN type compare to old Nintendo Switch LCD before. Also games running on 40 FPS look not good for us and people. 60 FPS are best for normal everyday gaming. That's weird. I think should not buy Switch 2 because it like Switch 1.5 something like that. Little improve but not major improve. I think going to skip it.

Yea that's just rumored but not sounding that impressive for a next gen upgrade. Of course Nintendo is very good at optimization of their games to play well, but for a $400+ 2025 console I expected a little better. Even a $299 2020 Xbox Series S has 4 tflops.

I thought it was supposed to be on par with an xbox 1 in power, why is it running most things at 40fps lol
  • Anrei @ Anrei:
in terms of power I thought it was a 2.0 compared to the switch man 40fps sounds whack is there poor optimisation or something?
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Just rumors/ leaks. We will find out in a few weeks. But yea prob way underpowered to save battery, for longer playtimes, like Switch 1 is.

Teraflops are not necessarily indicative of real world performance, especially when compared across different architectures. The Switch 2 will also be smaller/lighter than the Steam Deck so it's performance has to fit inside a much smaller thermal and power envelope. Using a 120hz VRR panel means 40 fps locks can be an option in handheld mode, which will be a noticeable upgrade over the current 30 fps standard on Switch 1. Games could also go uncapped and leverage VRR to keep things smooth.

Call me a filthy casual but I really don't notice the difference between the last few generations of consoles, and pushing specs just for the sake of bragging rights is really pointless.

Yea I think the HDR and 60fps+ have been the biggest noticeable improvements, along with faster load times/ ssd hd.
