Hardware Safe to format?

So I did the system transfer on my brother's New 2DS XL to install boot9strap and CFW on it. It also transfered my NNID. Now, I want my NNID back on my old 3DS, and I can't call Nintendo right now due to personal reasons. So I am planning to format both systems (because I cannot unlink the NNID on the New 2DS and I cannot due anything with the NNID on the old 3DS). I will make a Nand backup and then proceed to format both of them using the System Settings format option. Am I doing everything right? Is it ok to do this? (Sorry if this sounds very idiotic and stupid).

Call Nintendo when u can and say u old the 3ds u transferred to to get it back to other 3ds

Like I said, I can't really call Nintendo right now due to personal reasons. Can I not do what I am planning on doing without consequences?

Be very cautious and whatever happens do not discuss this publicly online. Your freedom is at stake. Pirating 3DS games means 25 to life. Brace yourself.

Go to system settings on the 3DS with a NNID, click the option at the top that's about NNID, connect to the server and check if you can unlink or transfer it back (has various options and I don't remember which ones they are exactly).

There is no option to do those. There only is an option for deleting it, which I don't want to do.

Do the same on the one with the old 3ds that you want to move the NNID to and look if you can login using the NNID you have on the new 3ds. I'm pretty sure though that you can't move NNID back to O3DS from a N3DS, it even says so in the 3ds.guide page in the warnings before you start...

You can't. You have to call Nintendo for that. It's simply because you can't do a system transfer from new to old, it won't let you.

If you don't care about the NNID to the point you don't mind formatting, why even bother? Just make a second NNID for the O3DS and you are good to go!:/ It makes no sense...
