RUMOR: Vita's memory card required games require several GB each.

Wait, the PSVita supposedly uses cartridge media now, right? But, if this rumor is true, it would also need to be installed? Why is that? Sony using cheap media for game cartridges that they can't use it to play off of it in real-time? Or would the memory cards be faster/easier to access?

The last thing you said. Sony has not announced the read speed of the Vita game cards nor the memory cards. If the memory cards end up having like 3x the read speed as a game card, then mandatory installs would make sense.

You should know me by now, I don't post things to intentionally be misleading nor false. I cannot say that I think closing/removing this thread just because another mod thinks it's false is a good idea (unless said other mod works for Sony), just in case it does end up being true. However, if Sony in any direct or indirect way proves this thread is false, then I fully support removing/deleting/closing/whatevering this thread.

I didn't mean to say that you're misleading or false, it just seems like the thread could give some people the wrong idea. I don't think you did it intentionally of course.

Sony have already stated that all PS Vita games will be available in both a physical form and a downloadable form on PSN. Hence why they say that a memory card of 4GB will be able to fit 1-2 full Vita games based on the fact that an average Vita game will be around 1.75GB - 3.5GB in size.

I do think that this thread is misleading, and that it is based on a misinterpretation of a gamestop product page and nothing more.

The fact the games sold in shops will also be available to download makes the size of these games very important.
The smaller the better.
Basically DEVS will be restricting their access to their audience by building larger games as they = longer download and = more space required could mean asking the consumer to buy another card just to play a game they just paid for too. Rediculous.
It makes sense to have small downloadable games as they = more sales (if the game is good)because more people will have space to download them.
To me this means VITA games will rarely be as good as they should be.
Further down the line not a single game will be bigger than half a gig to increase sales.
If downloads are between 2 and 4 GB each and the cards stay at stupid prices people will return their unnafordable systems.
I see this selling rather bad.
