He's said throughout the thread that the Atmosphere method (and now Hekate method) are the only official methods. So if you have problems using another method he's not going to help.

Edit: I was thinking this was the N64 thread I was posting in, so I'm not sure if the same thing applies for just Retroarch.

So I should install it using atmosphere/hekate? Is there a guide to do that through sx os?

I'm having the same issue, but i never used atmosphere. N64 was working great for the last build. Not sure what I did wrong though. I removed all the old files and replaced with the new. Any suggestions? Thanks and sorry I'm a noob :P

Same issue here, cant load any N64 with Muppen Plus. I get an error and Horizon crashes.

Updated core info files and assets

Did I miss something?

If you're using SX OS just hold R whle selecting any game on the main switch menu, it will take you to the homebrew menu. Done you've got the extra RAM. Then just use the Retroarch NSP. Thats' what I do it works fine. Make sure you use the Mupen64Plus-next core not Mupen64Plus.

I'm pretty sure that's equal to using Atmosphere. As for Hekate that's the newest method, and requires you being a patron and is more complicated especially for SX OS users.

That worked! Thanks a lot! I was originally trying play through the nsp on the home screen and that's what was giving me the problem. Is there any fix to that yet?

IDK, I'm still on Retroarch 1.7.5 and don't have any problems using the nsp. But you'll need to do that with hitting R once every time you turn on your Switch.

The games I play without being a patron supporter have played great for me up to this point. Now I will probably donate anyway as @m4xw is an awesome dev and I should show my support!!!

Just one question regarding the hekate files. Will the hekate and patches work with the TrinketM0? Since the hekate on the chip is a Bog version I’m not sure if I will have to wait for @mattytrog to update it once the official hekate is updated.
Any info would be appriciated.

Thanks in advance

Will be updated as soon as it drops :)

Does anyone have any experience trying FMSX? I put all the bios from BlueMSX on computer in Retroarch/cores/system, and I get a black screen when loading Metal Gear 2.

Edit: figured out I had to find the bios for fmsx specifically. Now it's working. Now if only I can get my save state from BlueMSX PC to FMSX Retroarch Switch, or learn how to make an in game save on PC then transfer it. But I doubt anyone here could help with that.

So I have been playing for a while on the last version of Retroarch, with very few problems at all. I even set up some nice overlays.

Then the new version came, and now it's impossible to keep a custom scale between docked mode and undocked mode. If I scale an image to fit the overlay in handheld mode, on docked mode it will shrink and move off to the left. If I adjust the image again on the TV and undock it, the image moves to the right.

I believe the reason behind this is the addition of 1080p. I've had no issues with the image moving about before, and my guess is because Retroarch was running at 720p docked and handheld.

When was the last nightly before 1080p was added, does anyone know?

Edit: I got around this using shaders that have console specific borders.

Updated the OP to reflect the latest changes in RetroArch Switch.
In particular, I modified the section about what you need at the beginning of the OP:

Hopefully that covers up the most annoying questions people have been bringing up as of late, @m4xw

SX OS is not officially supported.

In what way is it not supported? I'm on an older-ish build, everything is/has been working as intended.

Is it just "new" builds that aren't supported or?

What that means is that if you use SX OS and encounter some kind of issue, you won't be able to get proper feedback, because that is not the recommended way to setup RA on the Switch.
In other words, don't expect the devs to be able to help if you use SX OS :P

Cool, thanks for the explanation.

Seems 99% of peoples issues are user error anyways lol

"never supported" Is a weird term- It's "supported" by sxos, but there's no "support" when it comes to problems.

Dithering does work, enhanced resolution is not implemented for unai (also the switch isn't powerful enough to handle that anyway on sw renderer)

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Its not rewritten yet, we added a workaround.

Sorry but it doesn't. I disabled and reenabled dithering a thousand times and it doesn't do a thing. Silent Hill still looks like a rainbow mess. I'm on the latest nightly btw.
