Best Buy to do old school midnight launch for Ocarina of Time remake

Best Buy is opening nearly all of its US stores at midnight on November 5th for the launch of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for Nintendo Switch 2. You'll be able to pick up the game the moment it goes on sale amongst hoards of other night dwelling Nintendo fans if that sounds like something you can stomach.

Stores will also have a limited number of the 40th Anniversary Edition Zelda consoles and controllers, but numbers will probably be low so you'll want to arrive early if you stand any chance of picking one up.

Preorders for the game are open but if you've already preordered Best Buy says customers will get an email with the option to switch to in-store pickup if you fancy getting involved.

The remake is a ground up reinterpretation of the 1998 Nintendo 64 classic first announced in the June Nintendo Direct but its art style has divided fans. What's your take on it? Did the extended look sway your opinion?

I remember doing this back in the day with Halo 2, went home finished the game and went straight to sleep, couldn't recall finishing it the day after or what happened in the story. Good times, glad to see they're bringing it back.

These people are all scalpers snatching up the limited edition consoles, right?
When I was a kid, I actually thought they were gamers.

But will it be a proper card or a game code on a piece of plastic, because might as well pre-load at home and avoid hauling to wherever Best Buys still exist.

Halo 3 midnight launch was THE gaming lifetime of an event.
