More impressive was Street Fighter Alpha 2. This uses the S-DD1 chip and runs full speed 60fps! Star Ocean also uses this chip so presumably runs fine also. Didn't expect full speed so impressive indeed.
The S-DD1 is pretty simple by modern standards, it was just used for decompressing graphics on the fly in games so you could, e.g. fit more frames of animation on the cartridge. It's probably not even doing anything most of the time; just when a new area/opponent/etc. is being decompressed and loaded into VRAM. Not strictly relevant to RetroArch, but that's why it's generally not too much for the 3DS to handle. Even if the emulator does struggle, it would probably be a periodic issue only coming up when the game is loading anyway, which is as good a time as any to encounter slowdown.

O3DS or N3DS? Because savestates works fine globally. :/

Also, don't expect CPS3 any time soon... Not even an Nvidia SHIELD portable can run CPS3 without intense specific speedhacks, or even the Xbox (Proper fullspeed, since it runs at about 50-55 with Frameskip...).
MAYBE after we get Hardware Acceleration, we may see something come from it...
But I can at least hope for MAME ~0.76, I imagine it would run well particularly on N3DS.

Using N3DS (9.0.0-25E) using PastaCFW (+Firmlaunch).
Tried savegames with DKC3, Secret of Mana and Lufia II. Every game crashes.
PCSX-ReARMED works fine, no problems with savegames.

Kernel basically means extended access to lower-level parts of the system.
If you install the CIA builds, that's all in kernel mode, but it only makes a difference in PCSX so far, which has Dynarec available only on Kernel access systems.

The CatSFC thing is normal though. Nothing to fix that if you're using the regular build and not CatSFC+, which is essentially for N3DS.

Got it, dude. Wish I had s N3ds. :(

Don't fret, these emus are still in alpha. There's hope for fullspeed SNES emulation on O3DS once Retroarch supports GPU rendering (or something like that. I'm not the most knowledgeable person.)

Point is, it's going to get better.

Resave them, make sure the savestates have a proper folder to sit in. Try multiple state slots.
Otherwise, redownload the build. You shouldn't be having issues.
(Also, it's a bit too much to demand a fix for something that's not a necessity for an alpha...)

Well color me impressed and call me Meiling, I'm still surprised how fast this is evolving compared to what I'm used to from, say, the PSP scene. Yeesh, my head is spinning.

Cool! So there is hope! I´m crossing my fingers to play well Super Bomberman on my o33ds.

Cheers!

Exactly. The 3DS scene is evolving insanely fast compared to other scenes. People like to claim it's dead because we don't have Nintendo 64 emulators and whatnot but I don't think they realize how much effort actually goes into porting these emulators.

There's always hope. Now, keep in mind that there's some things the O3DS probably won't get - like any potential PSX/N64 emulators, or proper emulation for CD-based consoles/addons like the Saturn or the Sega CD, but that's to be expected given the hardware limitations. I'm relatively confident we'll see full speed emulation of most, if not all the popular 8-bit and 16-bit consoles, and maybe portables like the Neo Geo Pocket Color which had some kickass games.
It's just a matter of being patient.

I don't think games like Yoshi's Island are ever going to be full speed on o3DS but the games that only use the SNES hardware or the basic addon chips have a real chance.

I don't really think it's that farfetched - especially with kernel access, but obviously it's all speculation at this point. How's Yoshi's Island emulation on PSP? That might give us an idea of what to expect.

They were? Huh... I wouldn't expect N64 personally for a while, but maybe they were just migrators like I who expected to jump into a new scene with as much content as the PSP. And considering the 3DS has only a few months-ish under it's belt in terms of mainstream development, it's unfair to say it's "dead" when it hasn't even STARTED getting alive (Which it... kinda is now, really.)

Same! And I would ADORE more of these cores in Retroarch. It would really make the system shine more than it is.

Aha! My specialty!
PSP's emulator could do Yoshi's Island at about... 40-ish FPS? I could check if you want exacts.

Yoshi's Island lags a bit on my phone and that has a Snapdragon 600 and no restrictions like the 3DS. I just don't see it happening. I'd be happy if it did, but it probably won't.

PSP emulation is about the same as 3DS emulation with all the numbers doubled or so.

Anything with special chip is going to be terrible.

NeoGeo Pocket color is already part of the current emu's available to us via retroarch... and runs perfectly (almost perfect on o3ds too with minimal slowdown).

...Err, I recall Star Fox running half-decently on it.
At least PSP can play the aforementioned Super Butouden... :/

I don't think there's a PC98 RA core, sadly. And 40-ish FPS is pretty good, but considering the PSP is a lot more open than the 3DS - it allows dynarec with userland while the 3DS needs kernel access, I suppose it's safe to assume we probably won't get it running correctly on the 3DS.

Welp. Oh well. At least there's the GBA version. If you've got a CFW you can run it as an inject, I believe. Not that I've ever tried it.

Really? That's amazing, last time I tried the NGPC core I got 20FPS tops. I'll give it a go with Sanic Pocket Adventure later.

Funny you say that: Yoshi's Island GBA was an Ambassador game! So I already have it. I feel specials now.

So I'm not the only one who says Sanic. :3
I'll have to try myself I suppose, when I bring up the energy to toss in my NGPC roms.

(Also, I KNOW there's no PC98XX core. I'm just wishing there WAS and maybe someone could port over Neko Project II wink wink nudge nudge.)
