    NEW!
CATSFC SNES Emulator video on Ironhax/*hax 2.5 build, firmware 10.1U

Best core compatibility for your system:

As you know the specs on the different systems (old 3ds, 2ds and new 3ds) are quite different, so this results in some cores running better than others. Below is a list of which cores are best suited for your system to help you obtain the best gaming experience possible.
Old 3DS: *If your running on firmware 9.2 or below you want to use the .cia versions of the following due to kernel hax, otherwise use .3dsx
    • Fceumm (NES emulator)
    • Gambatte (GB/GBC emulator)
    • Quicknes (NES emulator)
    • snes9x (SNES emulator)
    • pcsx (PS1 emulator, .cia is needed for this one)
    • fb alpha cps1 (Capcom Playsystem 1 emulator)
    • fb alpha cps2 (Capcom Playsystem 2 emulator)
    • fb_alpha_neo_libretro (NeoGeo emulator)
    • gpsp (GBA emulator)
    • mgba (GBA emulator)
    • mednafen pce (TurboGrafx16 PC emulator)
    • Genesis plus px (Sega Genesis emulator)
    • nxengine (Cave Story)
    • mednafen wswan (Wonderswan emulator)
    • mednafen vb (Virtual Boy, .cia is needed for this one)
    • fmsx (FMSX PC emulator)
    • 2048 (2048 numbers game)
New 3DS: *If your running on firmware 9.2 or below you want to use the .cia versions of the following due to kernel hax, otherwise use .3dsx and you should be fine on N3DS besides pcsx (hopefully for now). Also most of the emus above work aswell.
    • Nestopia (NES emulator)
    • Catsfc (SNES emulator)
    • Catsfc Plus (SNES emulator, differences below)
    • fb alpha cps1 (Capcom Playsystem 1 emulator)
    • fb alpha cps2 (Capcom Playsystem 2 emulator)
    • fb_alpha_neo_libretro (NeoGeo emulator)
    • gpsp (GBA emulator)
    • mgba (GBA emulator)
    • pcsx (PS1 emulator, .cia is needed for this one)
    • mednafen pce (TurboGrafx16 PC emulator)
    • Genesis plus px (Sega Genesis emulator)
    • nxengine (Cave Story)
    • mednafen wswan (Wonderswan emulator)
    • mednafen vb (Virtual Boy, .cia is needed for this one)
    • fmsx (FMSX PC emulator)
    • 2048 (2048 numbers game)

3DSX is confirmed working on *Hax 2.5 (Includes Ironhax & Browserhax) on the latest firmwares.
CIA is confirmed working on firmware 9.2 and below.

    FAQ:
    • 1Q. What's the difference between CatSFC and CatSFC Plus?
    • 1A. Plus has better sound, but lower performance as a result.
    • 2Q. Is <insert core name here> as good as it will ever be?
    • 2A. RetroArch on the 3DS is still a young project, so probably not, no. Just keep an eye on progress.
    • 3Q. What cores have dynamic recompilers (on 9.2 or below)?
    • 3A. PCSX-ReARMed, picodrive (for 32x and svp only), and gpSP.
    • 4Q. What is RetroArch?
    • 4A. RetroArch is a multi-system platform that uses emulator "cores".
    • 5Q. Does RetroArch have audio?
    • 5A. Yes, every core has audio.
    • 6Q. I prefer to have all of my games display in their native resolution (1:1 resolution/graphics). How can I do this?
    • 6A. Go to Configuration -> Video -> Integer Scale and turn it on, and then go up to Aspect Ratio Index and change it to the setting that has "(1:1 PAR)" in it. This will give you the correct screen size, and the correct aspect ratio.
    • 7Q. <insert issue name here> isn't working!
    • 7A. Try to delete the two .cfg files in your RetroArch directory and try again. If the problem persists, please report it here.
    • 8Q. Who's making the 3DS version?
    • 8A. User @aliaspider is!
    • 9Q. Where does my BIOS go?
    • 9A. SD://retroarch/cores/system/

It works and supports sound now. GameYob has a new competitor. mGBA will soon too. :)

Before rotebrotobias comes in to ask whether to use this, Virtual Console or GameYob: don't use this. While the Gambatte core itself is great, the 3DS RetroArch port is quite unfinished and currently locks everything to stretched, full screen display. Sound also seems a bit iffy so far. Compatibility is probably a bit better than GameYob, e.g. Bomb Jack runs, but any game that works will probably be more enjoyable on GameYob or Virtual Console at the moment. In its current state, GameYob still offers the most features for Game Boy/Color emulation on 3DS, relative to either this or Virtual Console. It's also worth noting that Gambatte doesn't currently support Super Game Boy emulation at all and likely won't any time soon/ever. Games like Kirby's Dream Land 2 will only play in B&W on Gambatte, so GameYob is very much preferable where SGB is concerned.

Yeah. It'll perhaps be awesome. In General I'm VERY sceptical about multi emulation. I would love to be wrong though ^^

The latest nightly includes nxengine and fceumm ports. From what I've played, Cave Story works pretty well!

Well... at least until you get the polar star, then I can't kill any enemy or remove obstacles...
