I'm using it on the shield and I'm loving it!

The new xmb gui is so good!

I have the nVidia Shield Tablet and I can access the menus just fine, but whenever I load a ROM then select a CORE it crashes. Are you using the handheld Shield or the Tablet? If you're using the Tablet what's the secret?

Well about new cores I don't mind too much, as I rather see improvements to the ones already existing. But I would enjoy a lot a PSX one (Playing something like, I don't know, Vandal Hearts or Breath of Fire 3 again could be pretty damn sweet) but, eh, what are you going to do...

I don't know if those two games are playable in WiiSX, though.
Breath of Fire III works perfectly on dynarec settings, but Vandal Hearts doesn't, so at least it's fair, kinda.

I expect an update for the GBA, i really need an update for the GBA core, with stable fps in all games (Including Boktai and Mother3) as well some updates for other consoles.

Will it be more easy to use this time? If so, I will consider using it...

At first it seems a little daunting, and there are a few quirks here and there that I hope they get resolved, but, believe me, the difference is there. I don't want to go back to other emus on the Wii because Retroarch gives me a much cleaner image and better performance in almost every system, although it may be the TV i'm using, of course.

Oh god, I know what i'm going to play in the near future. Thank you!

I hope for a GBA upgrade too.

I have both. Have you downloaded the cores?

Also, Bsnes core crashes for me on both systems. (Mercury and performance)

What are the cores this thing will be able to run on Wii? I can't seem to find that on the site.
Oooh dude, so many great systems/ emulator ports!
Final burn alpha ( arcade capcomplay system 1&2, NEOGEO not bigger than +/- 25 Mb, and various other arcade boards), SnesGX-Next ( Super nintendo @ 60pfs without use of frameskips, snes BS), VBA-Next ( GBA, GB, GBC @ 60fps without use of frameskips ), Wii-Mednafen ( PC engine, PCengine CD/ TGCD etc ), FCE ultra GX ( NES, FDS ), Nestopia ( YES! , NES, partial FDS), Quicknes ( Again NES), Genesis GX ( all sega consoles from SG-1000 to Sega CD), DOOM, Quake, Scummvm, etc, etc, etc.
All with original resolution for usage with your CRT or in bilinear filter and offcourse with an excellent scanline overlay to get you a proper retro (but with razorsharp scanlines) picture, to get you in the mood of yesteryears!

Personally i am hoping for implementation of the atari 2600/7800-lynx.
An updated version of a certain n64 emulator as well as a properPSX core.
Also inplementation of various resolution with the the proper implementation of their varios video scaler would be a welcome addition for square pixels on any core. ( as of now we have to set res and scaling manually to get square pixels..)

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

I can't figure out how to download the cores!
You can from within the gui PC / android version.
for older Wii versions you can download manually from libretro.

Wait wait wait, VBA-Next can run GBC/GB games? I thought it only worked with GBA games. Kind of curious, as there is a Gambatte core for GBC/GB and I always used that one instead. You can even create your own colors for it, and make one for each game, which I fidn a very nice feature.

PCE-Fast is pretty good too, the only problem is that is a little picky with the roms, but once you find one that works it's great. I tried several CD games, like Dungeon Explorer 2, Splash Lake or Lords of Thunder and all worked perfectly. This system is too underapreciated...

Nestopia I think is the best one of the NES cores, mostly because I remember one of the others crashing really often. Although it has some problems with some Konami games' fan translations.

Not that interested. I use emulators a lot for my Shield, but prefer individual ones (like the .emu programs).

I'd be more intrigued if one of the GBA or Genesis cores included pre-installed cheats (which the current GBA and Genesis emulators don't have). Or if the DS core had a resolution upgrade tool which provided substantial results (something Drastic doesn't provide).
I have actually been so pleased with John's emulators, that I went ahead and bought the full versions from the play store. the emus' accuracy and frequent updates are great, and he really polishes his emulators with a great GUI. You can tell he puts much love and care into his emulators. I use them on my Shield Portable, and no hiccups so far. :)

Sure that there are no RA cores inplemented?
You would'nt believe how many of these Rip off emulators actually using RA code.
Ever heard of the Retron 5 Multi system? Look it up, the sytem is based on emulation, using Retroarch core.
The company that makes these consoles is in a heap of trouble.
Same for the android apps popping up, alot of violation.

I had a very quick go on 1.2, first thing that pops up is something about detecting controller and inputs (I was using a Gamecube controller) but it didn't seem to work because the only inputs that worked was up on the D-Pad and the A button. Made it a pain to try and do anything else so I switched back to the 1.0.0.2 version I had set up.

I'll be very interested to see what other people make of it though.

I wonder if that was the point of game streaming
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    But it's a dead end
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@Psionic Roshambo, people who cant download it can still play the game
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
If your internet speeds are fast enough. Streaming 4k takes alot. I used to only have 20mb sec, and 4k struggled. Now I have 300mb sec and 4k plays fine.

@BigOnYa, i only have like 1 or 2 mb sec

Did you feed the hamster in your internet router? It prob died and is running slow now.

@BigOnYa, why did you start saying my pc has a hamster in the first place?

I think Game streaming should work like this.... Local Hardware able the run the game fine, game engine and common assets stored locally, all FMV and music and textures could be streaming

also @BigOnYa im making some progress on my gdevelop project, implemented various mechanics

They went all in on streaming, should have been more of a hybrid approach

Or free government supplied high speed internet be nice also. Like Obama care. Xdqwerty that's cool, its time consuming but rewarding once done or playable, to see what you've made from scratch. Animations take forever, but worth it.

    @BigOnYa,
and the visual aspect of the game is quite crude (the sprite that looks best is that of the protagonist just because he is a stickman with sunglasses)

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
There is a bullets behaviour you assign to your character, that makes the code easier, under "behaviours"
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
i meant that when the character is pointing to the right, the bullets spawn where they should, but when he is on the right, they move to the right but the spawn point is incorrect
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Itch.io has lots of free assets also. Under the bullets behavior tab, there is a "rotate bullets" option, can try that. Or in the code can try
    - fire bullet Player.X(PlayerDirection)

That's cool tho, I'm proud of you going back to it, not giving up. It is difficult at first to learn, but fun once you get the hang of it. I think I've watched every tutorial video there is, but I still struggle sometimes to get stuff to work right. But gotta keep trying dif things, and eventually you will get it right.
