I have it, its not a bad game, but if you were expecting an enthralling story or any real story for that matter
then its not the game for you(not directly you). Taken for what it is, its a fun romp of time attack missions.
You decide whether its worth the 40 bucks it costs. The RE Revelations demo is joke though, too short.
Is IGN right about the frame rate issues? I was thinking about getting it, because it seemed like a fun time-waster, but I can't stand it if a game stutters.

it does stutter at times kinda like the zelda attack stutter(though that's purposeful) It certainly is not common(so far I'm at the second tier of missions).
It is an all around fun game!
Can you change your file name?
I know you can't erase it, but some customization would be nice.

hmmm file name, It doesn't have a menu for loading saves it goes straight to a set of options 1 to the main game 2. the demo 3. settings. So no name changing.

Thanks, maybe I'll find a way to check it out before buying it. I was hoping this would be decent and so far that's the only gripe. I never expected it to be anything more than an arcade style game.

They expected to be a full game, not a cash-in.

More than likely when the card sizes increase, Mercenaries and the Revelations will be merged into one card.

no, capcom could have merged this game and revelations into one card no problem, they only wanted to make more money so they released each game separately, and bundling a revelations demo into this game is certainly not going to make me buy this at all, try harder capcom.

Has there been any proven way to corrupt the save file and force the game to start a new one? Just curious.

IGN does give some shitty reviews but they seem to have some valid complaints here. Lack of content is the big one and it seems to be my huge gripe with handheld gaming. For $40 I should be getting a big juicy hunk of game, not essentially an expanded minigame.

EDIT: And yeah, Capcom are greedy. They rushed SSFIV out for a launch title on the 3DS even though Arcade Edition was literally right around the corner (and there's no Arcade Edition DLC for the 3DS version). They've also been setting a precedent of basically using handheld platforms as advertising for their big console games. They did it on the iPhone and it wouldn't surprise me if they do it on the 3DS, except instead of like a $10-$15 game, it's $40.

I bought the game at Wal Mart today, and I'm loving it so far. It's a very arcade like experience, which is really cool. I can see why some people would be disappointed, but I knew what I was getting into when I put down my money, and I can honestly say that, for me, it's money well spent.

It's also worth noting that I've yet to run into any problems the other reviewers have had. I haven't had any stuttering outside of my initial run, and I haven't experienced any framerate drops yet. I'm not too far in (on the second tier of missions with Hunk

Not to mention that they keep on delaying games as well. Megaman Legends 3? Nope. They don't want to release it unless people buy the fucking demo. Really Capcom?

And to top that, they haven't even released the demo. It's been almost a month.

This, they could have even rehashed re1 or something small and added this mode in as an extra, it should be a budget game imo.

I've tried pullling the cart while saving didn't corrupt. Not really sure of any other ways to corrupt the save.

Also not yet noticed frame issues although if they are talking about NPC animations, 3-5 sure did feel like it slowed down due to an animation.

I bought it and I don't think it's worth it

It's just some 'challenges' game(time attack?) and the size of the person takes up much of the screen size that you can't even see what's infront (at least for me)
Gonna sell it, after i finish the 'mission' :]

Mercenaries = Mercenary Mode missions from RE4 and 5 plus some customs.

The game's appeal ---> Co-op. Because Multi is incredibly fun in those modes.

Reviewer reviews it as a single-player game ---> Reviewer is a moron.

---End of Transmission---

The character has taken up much of the screen since RE4, so that's not really a valid complaint. My main concern is the content... No standard Mercenaries mode, no Survival mode and no weapon upgrade system... The number of playable characters and stages being eight each isn't a big concern, but why did they leave those three things out? It would've been a must-have if it had those... The controls are a joke as well - why allow us to move and shoot in a game where every single enemy was designed to capitalise on the fact that you can't? Don't even get me started on their laughable excuses for not including certain characters that should be in it. If Krauser is there, why isn't Leon and Ada? They could've rounded it up to a nice ten playable characters that way - then they could've included a bonus stage set in the Raccoon City Police Department that has Tyrants, Lickers and Zombies instead of the normal enemies and bosses.

I really want this game and I really want to like it... But they made such glaring mistakes with it. I mean, damn, would it have been asking too much to have a Survival Mode or to be able to simly select a character and a stage and play a standard game of The Mercs? I can understand withholding features to leave things to put into a sequel, but I'm not an Apple customer - I don't want to pay for something that only incrementally improves yet still costs the same price every iteration. Even Pokémon doesn't get away with that.

About the lack of characters and stages: there could be a DLC or something like that to fix it.
Mweh yea I think that too. But I am sure the game needs to program in the manner to receive DLC. If it's not, forget it. I bet Nintendo didn't think a way around that.

It makes me wonder how big in size can such a patch be.

I own the game as well and I like it (obviously). If you are looking for an action packed mini-game go for it, espacially if you can play with someone else.

I thought it was made to change completely to a mini-game to a game.

I know it wasn't a story, but is that all it is/feel like?

Tbh I think wait for a better game...

Plus that non-reset save thing...

I was looking forward to getting it, but after reading so many complaints I think I'll pass.

Capcom: The Mercenaries.
