IGN REVIEW

TO FULL REVIEW http://ds.ign.com/articles/117/1179462p1.html

5.0 Presentation
The menus are bare bones and clunky. Would it have been so hard to design a concept that could involve a basic story?

7.5 Graphics
The graphics are highly detailed and some of the best on the 3DS. The character models are especially impressive… except
sometimes enemies pop in and out of existence. The frame rate is a problem too

6.0 Sound
The sound does an adequate job of setting the mood for monster-killing, but there could have been a little more variety.

7.0 Gameplay
This game is fun and addictive, but lacks depth. Once you tire of slaughtering bad guys, there’s not much else to experience. The Revelations demo isn’t so hot.

7.5 Lasting Appeal
I found myself returning again and again to best my scores, but in a few months I doubt I’ll care. It’s designed to be an extra, not a retail release.

6.5
OVERALL

Okay

It's about what I expected... I don't like Resident Evil, and this seems like (And Capcom even said) it's just thrown together to be a launch game, and it ended up getting delayed.

The game is based off of a mode in Resident Evil 5, and there is another brand-new game coming to the 3DS. It sounds like they just tried to make a few bucks off people waiting for Revelations.

You know what, making money is the purpose and not to please to everyone.

Well I just got an email from ShopTo saying my copy has been shipped. I love online shopping when they break street dates

First class post, so it might be here in the morning. When it does arrive I'll give you my two cents if you like. I've not played a lot of the Mercenaries games over the years, and I don't pull any punches in my reviews, so if I say it sucks, then it sucks.

Yea right, if that's your way of thinking then don't bother to report. You are not a gaming luminary you know.

Nice job totally missing the point there, Pip. Want me to paint a bullseye on it next time, make it easy for you? Simply saying that my review would be impartial, not tinted by nostalgia and since I earn nothing for my work you know I'm not being paid to say a crap game is good or vice versa.

LOL, ign review,... From a "lvl 15 editor" girl, what a bullshit.

Here we go, another rage from a fanboy when a game they have reviews a low score from IGN.

Face the fact, there's no reason to get this game when its a stripped down version of a mini game from RE5.

I knew from the beginning this wasn't going to go over well, just wait for Starfox and Kid Icarus

Except for this part
QUOTE said:
A captivating story, even a ridiculous one, is very much one of the defining concepts of the RE franchise. Take the story out of the equation and you're left with something far inferior. That was fine when it was free and accompanying a fully scripted adventure. It's unacceptable for a full release.
it seems like a fair review. In my opinion there's no need for a story in this (type of) game.

QUOTE[...] the fact that this game costs $40 is a frustrating proposition.
I guess that makes it even worse that it's about 45 EUR in Germany.

edit: I forgot to add that I'm extremely disappointed about the frame rate issues.

Was anyone expecting Mercenaries to be any good?

Of course, as soon as it comes to the PSV, IGN will call it the best game ever.

I have it, its not a bad game, but if you were expecting an enthralling story or any real story for that matter
then its not the game for you(not directly you). Taken for what it is, its a fun romp of time attack missions.
You decide whether its worth the 40 bucks it costs. The RE Revelations demo is joke though, too short.

Is IGN right about the frame rate issues? I was thinking about getting it, because it seemed like a fun time-waster, but I can't stand it if a game stutters.

it does stutter at times kinda like the zelda attack stutter(though that's purposeful) It certainly is not common(so far I'm at the second tier of missions).
It is an all around fun game!

Can you change your file name?
I know you can't erase it, but some customization would be nice.
