Resident Evil 4 VR launches October 21, 2021

A new trailer has been released for Resident Evil 4 VR, an upcoming remake of the beloved classic exclusively for the Oculus Quest 2. The new trailer also announced for the first time the game's release date, October 21, 2021. According to IGN's preview, Resident Evil 4 VR will feature both full-motion movement and teleportation travel, and changes the game's item management, letting you pull different guns from your hip or healing items from your left shoulder. It sums up its time with the VR remake as "a refreshing new take on the 2005 classic" and says that it "makes the horror shooter feel practically new."

Yeah it may be a horrible call to make this exclusive, but to Oculus’ credit it did work in my case… if the price point of the Quest 2 wasn’t enough to convince me, knowing this was coming sealed the deal.

Regardless. I was already excited, now I’m fully aboard the hype train with no breaks to be had. Seeing what is probably my favorite game of all time get this treatment
is super exciting. El Gigante and that first time running into Dr. Salvador are gonna be insane

I imagine there will be plenty of interest in cracking this to make it available for other headsets ASAP. Such a dick move to make it exclusive when VR is kinda stagnating right now, but that's Facebook for ya.
Might take awhile considering it's a quest exclusive; it was developed for android

Also
I actually have expectations for this one. Hopefully it ends up being as good as it deserves to be.

Screw oculus and their exclusivity. I really really hate that they have just left the rift to die.
Lone Echo 2 will be the final Oculus PCVR exclusive game fortunately (according to them)

They put all their focus on the Quest lineup… all of it… there’s nothing I want more than a Rift 2 or something but that isn’t happening

I am actually curious how this one will play out. Not least of all because the gun system in it was quite a notable part of it and VR will be a radical departure.

Got my Quest 2 ready to play this at some point :>

Also why all the hate for facebook, capcom is doing it just as hard if not worse since they are the one deciding to limit it in the end.

There's no indication that the game wouldn't have been developed for PC VR without Facebook money, so they're paying out solely to keep the game off of other headsets (including their own Rift headsets). Sure, Capcom could've rejected the massive pile of cash, but why would they when they can just do a full wide release a year later? They can have their cake and eat it too, so to speak.

I'm also peeved that they're trying so hard to make Quest 2 the "standard" for VR hardware, given that the trailer looks on par the Wii release of RE4 graphically at best.

Cool but poor gfx. Look like PS2 to me. :( Thats ok. I am not into VR but maybe someday, thought. For now, I will wait for remake of RE4 action horror. :)

Reminds me of how RE7's VR mode is locked to the Playstation. I will hope for a PC port someday but not hold my breath.

Yup. Despite the fact that other headsets support stuff like Ubuntu for PC VR, the Quest 2 needs Oculus' software and Virtual Desktop if you want to stream wirelessly. Both only support Windows and I haven't heard of them running through WINE.

They can trick you into buying more headsets by releasing more versions of the Quest.

...of course. That's why I wrote: screw 'em. Oculus is ridiculous.

I can't imagine this being a good experience unless they rebuild the whole game instead of moving the camera and adding mediocre controls

@AncientBoi, Yeah, believe you can do PSP games as well. But a Pi5 is much powerful in comparison.

Not sure about other models of Pi4 but the Pi 4 B with 8GBs OCed to 2Ghz handles PSP really great except like 1 game I found and it is playable it just looks bad lol Motor Storm Arctic something or other.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Other games I can have turned up to like 2X and all kinds of enhancements, Motorstorm hmmm nope 1X and no enhancements lol

This looks like one of their premium models, so... $150 :glare:

    To me that seems reasonable.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I mean since basically all the games are errmmm free lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean yeah sure but the specs are the same as a $50 model, it's just those pesky "quality of life" things driving up the price, like an actually working speaker, or buttons that don't melt, and stuff like that.

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think all in my Pi 4 was well north of 200 bucks 150ish for the Pi 4 the case the fancy cooler, then like 70 for the 500GB MicroSD then like 70 for the Xbox controller. But honestly it's a nice set up I really enjoy and to me was worth every penny. (even bought more controllers for 2 or 4 player games.) hmmm have never played any 2 player games yet :(
  • Veho @ Veho:
Yeah that's what I hate about the RPi, it's supposedly $30 or something but it takes an additional $200 of accessories to actually turn it into a working something.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
yes that's the expensive part lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean sure it's flexible and stuff but so is uremum but it's fiddly.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah a lot of it I consider a hobby, using Batocera I am constantly adjusting the collection adding and removing stuff, scraping the artwork. Haven't even started on some music for the theme... Also way down the road I am considering attempting to do a WiiFlow knock off lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I want everything served on a plate plz ktnx, "work" is too much work for me.
  • Veho @ Veho:
Hmm, with that in mind, maybe a complete out-the-box solution with all the games collected, pacthed and optimized for me would be worth $150
