I'd love to play the classic Fallout games (1 and 2) on a handheld. The gameplay is slow and methodical and uses a mouse interface which seems perfect for the 3DS and its touchscreen.

Is anyone out there working on a port of the games to 3DS?

Fallout 1 and TES Arena may be played with DOS emulation only on a N3DS. Not sure about Fallout 2...

There's DOSBox for the 3ds, but it's going to be slow.

It only works on N3DS I am pretty sure they ditched the idea of doing it on a O3DS because it was to slow...

Lol I thought the same thing. Although Fallout 1 and Fallout 2 are classics and not some big open world game like Skyrim. Not to mention the poor graphics...

Not really possible. There is no source code available for either game. You can run them in RetroArch Dosbox, but it'll be slow, under 20 FPS. on N3DS. Without source code it's pretty much impossible to port anything without it taking hundreds or maybe even thousands of man hours of reverse engineering (see https://pyra-handheld.com/boards/threads/starcraft.73844/ ).
