Hacking Replace Phat screen with lite screen?

I'm going to replace my phat's shell, because the hinge has broken (nooo!), but I was wondering whether it was possible to replace the Phat's screen with the brighter Lite screen. Would this work? Would it render the brightness button useless? Would it shorten battery life? Would it fit??

Also, it drains battery life. The battery in the Lite has more juice in it (I think 1200mAh), unlike the phat (which I think was 800 or 100 mAh).

It also makes sense that the connectors would be different due to the different PCBs used inside the DS, because it's so much smaller.
