There is no point arguing with these GW zombies.
It's like they are happily trapped in an era lol. I actually updated my imported Aus NN3DS last night. The unit that came shipped with 9.2 on it ready for GW.
Why?
Lets start with a reality check:
- The GW has been sitting in a box unused for atleast a month.
- I dont want to log on to the internet everytime I want to play a game...
- I see a clear future of demise for this GW product that no one else has probably even thought of becuase they are drinking the GW koolaid.
- This clear future involves Nintendo releasing an update literally the day BEFORE the release of the units in the US/Europe.
- Then, Nintendo will proceed to issue a Cease and Desist letter shutting down ALL Gateway server pages and web services that infringe upon their Intellectual Properties.
- GW will cave because Nintendo's dog is really bigger than GW's.
- Having to remember and keep track of emunand and sysnand is not only boring, but just plain dangerous to my machine, my saves, and sanity after the 80th time of having to 'login' to play.
- I travel.....how am I supposed to enjoy my lovely GW when in...wait for it.....AIRPLANE MODE?
- GW has taught me to hate the word..."soon".
- I am out of $80. I now need to craigslist this thing..*groan*
- If Nintendo releases a major update greater than 9.5, alot of people who didnt update to 9.4 are going to be out of luck. Period.
- If that 'webpage' comes crashing down for whatever reason...you will be out of luck. Period.
- The amount of confusion that comes along with setting up GW to maintain your original Sysnand save files is staggering....Ive got 600+ hours in MH3U(sysnand 6+)...how bout you?
- And NO. I am not talking about the Gateway of 'yesteryear'. I am talking about the "ULTRA" that is GW of today in the present. Wake up. It's a new day.
- On this very site is just about every problem imaginable linked to that half-baked, 'Ultra' product that was released. Poor 2DS owners....but I digress.
+ My Sky3ds plays every single game in my region flawlessly on the LATEST update.
+ My Sky3ds now plays every region thanks to Smealum.
+ My Sky3ds plays every game in my region on the New Nintendo 3ds without logging in to anything.
+ It will continue to work if Nintendo decides to skip over 9.5 and completely overhaul a new update at 10.0 when Majora's Mask release. I simply wont update.
+ Sky3ds is NOT dependant upon a webpage exploit to work.
+ When I updated my NN3DS to 9.4.021, I was able to legitimately patch and update ALL of my games that needed it through the eshop with no problems whatsover.
+ My machine does not have to be 'modded' in any kind of way to enjoy the cart and all my ORIGINAL eshop games along with all of their original Save files. MH3U is saved! (yay)
+ If for some odd reason Sky3ds no longer works...I wont have to 'restore' anything. I still have all of my eshop games untouched because the system didnt need to be 'modded'
+ As Dax and a few others on here who are working with common sense already said, "It just plain WORKS." I concur.
+ If Smealum should decide to bless us with a way to go regionfree on the New 3DS units, than Sky3DS will be complete. As of now, it plays all games perfect within your region.
+ It works flawlessly on the 2DS! lulz
And, last but not least, the Sky3ds team is really trying hard to do the best that they can to listen and communicate with their customers. They just released another Diskwriter and updated Template.
Both of these apps combined are still much simpler to own, use, and operate than that headace you will incur setting up a GW product. And best of all, there is no...."soon" in their vocabulary.
And, that's all im gonna say about that.

Lets start with a reality check:
- They mislead, lied, and cajoled folks into thinking that their product would work on NN3DS upon release.

You can write all the pros and cons all day long if you'd like, but at the end of the day I'm the one that's gonna laugh my ass off at your foolish mistakes when Sky3ds gets blocked. I mean how stupid and desperate must you be to ruin a N3DS by updating it and taint it with that semi product called Sky3ds?? I've seen a lot of people like you bitching and whining here on the forum that GW lies and steals or whatnot but at the end of the day they all come crawling back because GW delivers! BTW congratulations on spending $100 on a dead product, your parents must be very proud of you. There is no point arguing with these GW zombies.

use whatever settings you like for wifi tethering, just make sure your 3ds has been set up to use it
The useless rambling.. It's.. Sad... The insults.. Ill thought out. Oh jeez. I forget. Teeny tiny reality check, but, er
- Sky3DS has released numerous "revision carts", so once that update hits you're kinda done with that cart and will have to move to the next.
- Region free only works on the Old 3DS, once it works on the N3DS your Gateway will work anyhow.
- Since we're talking about what Gateway can do now, downgrading and using the offline exploit is a thing.
- GW will continue to work with 9.5 or 10.0 once it's released, they've been fairly quick to update emuNAND recently. And worse case scenario, I just download all my update .cias using my ticket.db and keep updating my stuff anyways.
- GW isn't reliant entirely on a webpage exploit to work either. 4.x still has DS Profile and more exploits are coming.
- I legitimately patched and downloaded all my games on 9.4 as well, in emuNAND
- My 3DS doesn't need to be modded either.
- If a Gateway cart breaks down, everything is stored on the big SD card saves-wise.
- Gateway was a bit tricky to get set up, so I'll give Sky3DS the usability factor.
- If Smealum decides to bless you with regionthree on N3DS, Gateway's N3DS exploit will already be out. He only did that exploit because he was curious if it would work, and it did. Yay. He didn't really reverse anything new to do that one.
- Pointeroni, I'll give you that one. Luckily the only issues stem from using the cart on 2DS (probably timing issues or whatever), .cia installs work perfect from what I've heard.
I don't usually like arguing with fanboys, but I'm just pointing out that your facts are extremely one-sided. It's literally been only a week since GW Ultra was released. 9 days. They are likely working on their offline exploit and making sure it works, and also making sure that it doesn't end up like the 2DS did with the release (unstable, barely usable, etc). But the only regionthree stuff which will help "advance" sky3DS will stem directly from whatever Gateway releases for N3DS, and that's it. Smealum isn't looking for any new code vectors at the moment, and he even stated that he won't be working on regionthree at all after his original release (unless maybe Gateway releases their N3DS exploit).
Y'know.. For someone who keeps bragging at the end of his posts that "This'll be the last thing I'll say" (or something akin to that) you sure do keep comming back, trying to lecture someone. And it's always about the same thing. You're probably just as butthurt as most people. Otherwise, I see no reason to your random ramblings other than "Hey! Look at me! I actually support other 'devs' besides Gateway! Go me!"
Oh and, not to offend you or anything, but your pros AND cons are both full of moot. Re-read what you said and maybe you'll hit the edit button sometime.. Someday..
But of course, that's none of my business, carry on sir.

Hey bro here's a lovely song describing what you just said,
Enjoy!
The hook pretty much sums it up.
Dude, it's been like 9 days, you can't possible act like it's never coming at all.
smealum's works had added 4.0 to 9.4 support , right?
smealum's works had added 4.0 to 9.4 support , right?
I believe RegionThree is 9.0 to 9.4.
That means... those on that dont get 9.4 and when 9.5 comes out.. they are boned if it gets blocked.
https://github.com/smealum/regionthree/blob/master/README.md
"region free loader for 3DS/3DSXL/2DS on firmware versions 4.0-9.4 this also allows you to bypass mandatory gamecard firmware updates"
sorry.. when it first came out it said only 9.0 consoles...
