Boohoo. Nobody's singling you out. Fact of the matter is that it's against the rules. A torrent file technically doesn't contain anything illegal, just hash information and a few other things. Yet I'm going to guarantee that linking one for illegal content isn't allowed.

No one jumped on your ass, was more of a heads up. If it's allowed to be posted, then whatever.
Then u should of "was more of a heads up" to as well :)

If your theory had sense, mods were banned @cearp and @Drakia cause of CIAngel and his "wings.json" build-in updater, so no, share homebrews like that isn't illegal.

It doesn't provide pirated content, but rather it provides a fetcher to grab the file from the place it's hosted. Even then, the file doesn't contain paid content itself, but rather the keys needed to get it from the servers (illegal number kinda thing)

You could think of it a bit like the Pirate Bay - there are no illegal files there, just torrents which link you to servers (in this case, other torrenter's computers) to download the game.

Thats my point, both wing.json and encTitleKeys.bin have "illegar keys", thats why none of both files can be shared here, in short, there is no diference between enTitleKeys updater and the CIAngel's built-in wings.json updater.

I think the whole "illegal keys" thing is bullcrap and, for the most part, is being way too cautious about it. I mean, if it's not a huge site sharing full downloadable ROMs (an actual ROM site) not much will happen. I doubt Nintendo would sue over illegal keys.

c
Because it's an updater for a file that falls in the grey area in the very least.
ia angle has a wings updater built in in thats allowed

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

some flash cards are illegal and yet people are allowed to link them where to buy them

Hey, I made encTitleKeysUpdater.
Just created an account to say, yeah, the .cia itself has no illegal files. The .bin is pulled from a zip online and then is extracted.

Yeah, silly mistake I made. I didn't check for the /freeShop directory, so the file will fail to extract if it doesn't already exist. I'm releasing v1.2 in a day or so though (probably tomorrow, there's just something I want to fix first), so then people should be able to use it to download the .bin before their first launch of freeShop.
The application will update the .bin file directly in freeshop and installed directory if it has not ?

If you're worried about this being against rules, it's can't load/download Nintendo files without the encTitleKays.bin, which the download doesn't provide.
If you're worried about getting caught, no you won't.
eh this is better then the tickets though cause they could ban your eshop account or the console if you use those

Not yet lol. There isn't enough error checking in general atm which is the main cause of failures. With time this will obviously improve.

I don't know much about that, but seems odd. I'd guess case-sensitivity issues, but the sd card is fat32 afaik so shouldn't matter. Oh well, I'll leave it to the author of that program to figure it out.
I can launch them through FBI though

Hey, where can i get that updater? Will it be included in freeshop, or separate app?

Jesus Christ, its not against the rules. It doesnt provide the enctitlekeys.bin file. Its just an app that fetches you the latest version of the database so you dont have to open your goddamn console FFS. If this is illegal so is freeShop since they both download "illegal files". But all in all its a great app, someone should implement this feature into freeShop. :gba:
