This is awesome... but unfortunately my n3ds is 10.1 and can't do cfw's.
However, if someone can create an NTR plg that frees up all the available ram so I can run Garou Mark of the Wolves on the NeoGeo Retroarch emu on my o3ds that would be cool.

Someone email nintendo this info and ask them to "unlock" it in an update for us "legit" customers. It's really absurd they would restrict a perfectly functional feature like this on the pretense of saving battery life. They should just designate the normal New 3ds clock speed as the "performance" option while the Old3ds speed would be the "power-saving" option. This is some basic Donald Trump tier obvious logic nintendo - you guys are just being incompetent.

Go ahead and email them. I'm sure that they'll remove region lock too since that feature's been obsolete since 1999

This could actually break games. Not just breaking it on start but it may break in all hell kinda ways. Then people will bitch about it.

Well, this is incredible if it really works with everything! I can't test it because I have an O3DS, but well, I'd if I could.

But... knowing this... Wouldn't be this an "advantage" over people that doesn't use or can not use it? I mean, for example, in Mario Kart -I haven't played it, so it's possible that I'm just wrong-, if there is a FPS lag problem in an O3DS that'd distract you or make you lose a race, and in a N3DS with this plugin that doesn't happen, we could not consider this as a "hack" or something like that? Just wondering.

EDIT: Reading the thread, I was also wondering: If we can set the CPU speed to the native's N3DS while playing O3DS games, couldn't we set a different CPU speed between 268MHz and 804MHz? LIke, i,e, 536MHz.
I mean, this'd help to save some battery life (because of the lower speed) and reduce the "this can break games" problem, isn't it?

nope not really it only really improves framerate slightly, i.e makes the game easier on the eyes, the gameplay etc is running at the same speed....so unless your trying some frame perfect timing maneuvers then its just a visual enhancement really

but tbh the only games that really have framerate issues are probably pokemon and a few others, and on a turn based game like that it would make zero difference to the end user (in terms of advantages), and afaik the 2 online mp games that require relatively good timing are mario kart and smash bros that dont really have framerate issues

Has anyone tried this out with MH4U and a N3DS? Is there any further improvements or is MH4U already utilising everything?

I think it would be an awesome addition to NTR-CFW if it was possible to make this configurable on a per-title basis (I think this is what Nintendo should have done in the first place)... Like a config file with all the titleIDs the faster clock speed gets enabled for.

Anyone know how to set a hotkey for this in NTR? Works great, but in some games like Animal Crossing, bringing up the NTR menu breaks the bottom screen, until the game is restarted.

Have you even tested the plugin or are you just talking out of your ass?

"unless your trying some frame perfect timing maneuvers then its just a visual enhancement really"

^ also, what?

im just talking out my ass, the truth is people using this plugin are playing the game at 100x speed so they will pwn at MK7

So there's really no way to use this with a .cia game played in Gateway's emuNAND?

Edit: I apologize for not doing more research before asking. Here's the answer.

Yes.
Launch Gateway / Cfw (whatever you want) > Install NTR 3.0.cia > Launch NTR > Home Button when it finishes > Done
You'll need to relaunch it each time you boot into Emunand.

An NTR plugin for a system that doesn't support NTR? I'm on it! /s

Zidapi-senpai noticed me. :creep:

Also he was talking about support for o3ds not his n3ds which is on 10.1.

Btw old 3ds is now supported for NTR. Not the speedboost though.

Question:
I tried this on Majoras Mask since the outdoor fields are a lagfest (N3DS enhanced my ass) and works smooth as butter when using the higher clock. However, opening up the menu causes the UI on the bottom screen to screw up. Is there any way to overclock via hotkey without opening up any menu?

I heard this also screwed with the UI of Animal Crossing, so having a hotkey to over/underclock would be lovely.

Technically possible, kernel doesn't support it however.

Please don't drag me into your weaboo circle jerk. I don't know what you're talking about, so it's completely lost on me.

Thanks for pointing out that he was talking about an old3DS, I missed that bit.
