That's a tricky one. They can ban the IP, and if they can detect who's using an emulator somehow, they can autoban everyone who's using an emulator, but other than that there's not much they can do, and IPs can often be changed rather easily even without using proxies or a VPN.

Why don't you believe it? It does happen.
My apologies... I misread something somewhere...

Great work Exzap, I admit we were skeptical at first but you are a hero :) 2015 must be called "Wii U year" in history!
Btw, I take this as a proof that current-gen consoles can be emulated. Great job.

Don't expect to play anything on this. This does not replace a real Wii U and won't be any time soon.
What are you talking about? It's working almost flawlessly on my computer. Not speed wise, but the way the game looks is actually natural.

I believe this needs to be said:
@Exzap, you really need to add a note to the first post in big letters saying that this cannot currently be used to play Wii U games at a playable speed or without crashing frequently, there are far too many noobs asking about compatibility and what specs they need to run this.

First of all, it's pretty much guaranteed that this isn't doing accurate hardware emulation, just approximation that can work on modern systems. This means problems will occur that the developers will have to come up with ways to overcome via hacks and optimization. That sort of thing usually takes years.

Second, there's quite a huge gap between:

A) "The game boots and manages to look normal on the splash screen."

versus

B) "20-30 hours of gameplay work flawlessly and not a single bug was encountered that rendered normal gameplay progression impossible."

It's the early days. It might look normal but it definitely doesn't play normal, that much I can guarantee you (and I'm not talking about framerate). That's always how it is with emulators. Again, don't expect this to play games without running into all sorts of problems.

The current generation of consoles cannot be emulated. Yet. You need roughly 3x the power of any given console in order to emulate it, at a minimum. The reason the Wii U can be emulated is that its hardware specs are on par with the PS3/X360, which PCs have beaten in power for quite a while now. Of course, high-end gaming PCs cream the PS4/XOne, as well, but only by about 1.5x - 2x.

The only actual issues I've hit was crashes on loading specific data. Speed wise I think it's been outstanding. The graphics look like the WiiU loaded them, ( looks normal; no graphical glitches. ) But i've hit mounds of data the game doesn't load for some reason. Ending with a crash. I normally play around 12-30 FPS. But yes I agree there are many issues to work around.
