Nobody NEEDS to do anything. the immediate fix is to go back to the old plugin for now.

I haven't had the issue personally? But we don't know if they meant normal chat or the BFF chat

This source? It compiles fine for me. What inventory bug do you mean?
EDIT: I just looked into this further and it seems compiling is currently broken on DevKitARM r47 (for me anyways). Try DevKitARM r46 and let me know the results.
EDIT 2: Nanquitas found the fix, I made a pull request to RyDog's github so until that get's accepted, just use my fork.

Attempting to enable Infinite Bells on the menu screen leads to a crash and a report from Luma at the bottom of the screen, though anytime else I have tried to enable it (Isabelle intro screen, inside buildings) has not led to a crash. Just a small bug easily avoided, though I felt like pointing it out.

Not really, no. Idk if both normal and WA pre-installed ACNL share the same code.bin in the first place, I'd presume not.
Anyways, support isn't planned, there really isn't enough demand tbh.
Porting cheats between normal ACNL USA, EUR and JPN can be time consuming enough depending on the cheat, it would be alot more time consuming for us to also have to port them to each region of the WA variant of the game.

I have almost completed the changes. After long nights spent in the source files of the plugin, I was able to add +500 new commands.
I check that they all work well. Even if though most of them work perfectly. Now, I add a few other commands to make it easier to get some other item sets. It will take me a while longer.

Because I don't want to keep Onzy as I have Bowain as pseudo on my networks, I like to put everything in order.
+ There is a bug : the list of best friends sometimes disconnects when the cheat menu was opened
