how are we going to find out when that the final product is out to try out?
the blue disc slot light on your Wii will illuminate

that was cold..... (not really)

Don't believe him, edg0020... Unless your wii's are connected through wii message board, that won't be happening

I'm just kidding. I'm sure the first post of this thread will be updated as soon as it's out...plus there will be mass pandemonium...plus I'll ejaculate

Hey Treeki,

this program looks great! In the future, is it possible to create some way to port over levels created in the DS version to wii? this would make things alot easier.

FAR from perfect, and FAR FAR FAR from complete, did this in about 30 mins just because I was bored...
But heres one just for sh*ts and giggles.

Well, for those of us who may be thinking of working on a "sequel" to NSMBW more than a "remake", how's about actually starting a new thread on the subject? Just to get the ball rolling, ideas flowing in the meantime?

Title, World Themes, etc? Gauge some shows of interest?

[SNIP]

4. A 'Pipe Maze'-style world, or perhaps even a world that's a sewers system, full of jungly overgrowth and piranha plants and dark/water elements

[SNIP]
Take it with a grain of salt (I'm NO visual artist lmao) but here is a concept art I did of a "new" kind of "Pipe Maze":

It's obviously an extension of the line of logic commenced by SMB3 (world 7), through Yoshi's Island (world 3 castle) and now with NSMBW (world 6-3). A whole world inside pipes, ending with a completely pipe-themed final castle. Imagine the tense castle music playing inside a piranha-infested maze of doom, ending with, I guess, Iggy's boss fight?

cool pipe maze

we need 4 (heck a whole world) freeze flame galaxy prodigy stages.

a few ice, a few fire then to top it off, when hot and cold collide stages XD

LOLL sorry, I should have labelled it; yeah, it's meant to be a warp canon

Thanks, obviously it's just an idea, and I don't expect people to actually create fully working world maps, but you know, for thematic unity purposes, I think it's a good idea to organize this kinda stuff.

And a Freezeflame World is a brilliant idea. Kinda like how in NSMBW9-7, ice and FOREST combine; we could do the same with ice and lava, but yeah, whether the whole world is themed that way or perhaps there's a world split in two: a lava volcano island and a frozen ice volcano island, and the map shows the lava and the glaciers merging in the middle, and that's where the final few levels -- and castle -- would appear. Just an idea.

And if an Outer Space world was the 9th world (a proper, intergalactic Rainbow Road type world), one of the other worlds could then be a Toy Land, with Lemmy the boss of course. There are plenty of colorful toy-like objects and tilesets in the game :-)

PS - As I've said, would people support the starting of a new thread? If the name New Super Mario World has already been 'taken', what can we call a more direct sequel: "New Super Mario Bros. Wii 2" is obviously too much of a mouthful.

now all we need is a toytime galaxy prodigy with mecha bowsers everywhere XD

and just to annoy people with hard stages, have some pipes shoot lava out unexpectedly lolz

Oh please not python, what's wrong with using Java instead, when aiming for crossplatform compatibility?
It seems you were working with C# before...

Python is a wonderful language. Anyone whose used it can vouch for it. It's also really crossplatform, if you want to to work using Java, you should check Jython out, or a Java VM for PyPy.
I would also prefer Python...some Love for the Linux/Mac Users, you know

? Because I have only Ubuntu as an OS, and would love to make some custom Levels...

Well, in the end, we'll see what it will be...
This is my only request, I use Ubuntu and I have LOTS of cool level ideas I've had since like 4 years ago that I want to contribute. So please, if any thing make it mulitplatform.

1) I sort of meant a Toytime Galaxy type world when I said Toy Land. In fact, I think stripping a lot of the galaxies in SMG of their "galaxy quality" would make for brilliant 2D Mario worlds... obviously, I guess.

2) What do you mean by "prodigy"?
wtf.gif
lol

3) I personally don't subscribe to the annoying/hard stage hack philosophy. If nobody disagrees to it, I'm just gonna start a new thread shortly, where a group of us can perhaps come to some sort of agreement in planning a high quality new set of levels, where there is a similar, connective design ethic.

As for the name of the collaboration kinda-hack, it should be either

Standard:

Or, following the trend of Wii Fit Plus and shit like that:

As for the levels, I have one quite ready, I had one created already for my SMBDS hack, it just needs to be recreated in Reggie (+adding some of new NSMBWii-typical stuff)

It should most probably be NSMBWii+, Ninty might be working on a proper sequal.

Lovely! I like how the plus has the upward shadow, giving it a "plus" kinda feel

and it is reminiscent of the Wii Remote dpad.

An alternative name is "New Super Mario Bros. WII" where the II is the 2 haha, but yeah, in all seriousness, I'm guessing that would return identical Google results to "New Super Mario Bros. Wii," so that's no good.

What about "Newer Super Mario Bros. Wii"?

If we ever got around to a trequel, it could be "Newest..." haha.

@skaw: The shadow on the + doesn't match the shadow on the rest of the test. Fix that and it'll look great.

Hey again! Bit of an update from the sprite-figuring-out side. We're hard at work trying to understand how the hundreds of sprites in the game work. Some of the more recent developments have been documenting the enemy generator and the rotating hills. The hills especially have been difficult: they had 6 different unknowns! We've gotten 5 out of 6 figured out and know WHAT the 6th one is, we just don't know what it specifically changes. Other more simple sprites have been documented as well, like all the types of goomba, koopas, thwomps, big thwomps, dry bones and more. We're hard at work on this end and treeki's hard at work on his. Thanks for the continued support everyone!

It doesn't look quite right for me.

I also thought of New Super Mario Bros. Wii: The Lost Levels, but that would take a little bit more of work to make the logo...
