Hacking Recording on the Wii

Hey guys,

Is it possible to record gameplay on the Wii with software? I prefer to do it that way if possible.

I was also thinking it couldn't be that hard to write a program for it(I guess?).

Thinking you just need to have live audio & video recording and then have it being saved on something like an HDD or SD-card.

No, you need hardware for this. Something like a dazzle or other video recorder. Think about fraps on the PC, that uses a lot of processing power. So if a similar program ran on the Wii, it would require too much of the CPU, and as most games on the Wii already utilize most of the CPU, there wouldn't be enough power left to run a recording program.
