He simply expects more from the nerdy asian kid. The dude probably grew up the outsider, the only black kid into math. He has low expectations for the kids obviously sitting behind you. They'll have lovely, long careers on the welfare, but he says to himself... "DAMN. I'm not gonna let this kid become a chigga. This kid has a future. And I'm gonna help him."

I have an African American Algebra I teacher.
Today I was listening to some music, He tells me to put up my MP3 Player. I do. He then says, " You know what, just give it here." and takes it away.
Now, in front of him are also some African American kids doing the EXACT SAME thing.

But guess what?

They don't get in trouble.

That teacher has alot of favoritism for African American kids. He lets them get away with LOADS of stuff, such as texting, eating, music, etc. but
apparently me and my friend can't.

I'm Asian and my friend is Caucasian.

Thoughts on what I should do?

What can you do? Just deal with it.

When I was in school, my teachers would always point me out, but the retarded stoners (I smoke pot but I'm not retarded like these kids were) in the back (some native and black) got away with everything. You can't do anything.

Well they say African-American to base of ethnicity, rather then color.

Which is incredibly pointless, don't you think? The way I see it, they deserved to be called full fledged Americans. It's like saying Caucasian-American or Asian-American - nobody says that. It's always African Americans, no other ethnicity has been placed in a phrase, I'm not even black and I notice that. Not to mention that alot of so-called African Americans are not of African decent - they're just black.

I really don't know why people are afraid to use colour as a distinctive feature, especially when sometimes it's really the only distinctive feature - people mixed in the past so many times that it's hard to find someone of African decent that's "born and breed", same goes to other ethnicities. If you want to be fair, call them Africans, just like you call Caucasians, Asians and Indians. I mean, Native Americans. Another dumb phrase.
