This is an unofficial port that I made to run the games without the need for vWii, straight from the gamepad and with touch.
It works perfectly with Aroma, I haven't tested the rpx.

I am grateful to anyone who can test and help collaborate. It's my first time making homebrews.

A community-developed, native ScummVM port for Nintendo Wii U running Aroma.Launch ScummVM directly from the Wii U Menu and play using the GamePadtouchscreen or the analog stick and buttons. No RetroArch required.

This is an unofficial, experimental port, not an official ScummVM release.Version 0.6.0 includes SCUMM v0–v6, Mohawk,Blade Runner and Groovie, not every engine supported by desktop ScummVM.Earlier packages included only SCUMM v0–v6. Games and MT-32 ROMs are not included.

The port version is separate from the upstream ScummVM version shown in thelauncher. See the 0.6.0 release notesfor packages, the renderer memory fix, controls and validation details.

Features

  • Native Wii U application packaged as ScummVM.wuhb for Aroma.
  • ScummVM name and icon on the Wii U Menu.
  • Standard ScummVM launcher, with video output on the TV and GamePad.
  • Touchscreen pointer control, including tap-to-click.
  • Analog-stick pointer control with physical left/right mouse buttons.
  • Native Wii U on-screen keyboard for text entry and save descriptions.
  • Audio playback through the existing SDL mixer backend.
  • MP3 decoding (libmad) and integrated MT-32 emulation, both tested on my Wii U.
  • Game data browsing, configuration and save files on the SD card.
  • SDL2-based backend; no Libretro frontend or RetroArch dependency.
  • Corrected renderer texture cleanup for repeated game/launcher transitions;I confirmed that this fix resolved the repeated-exit freeze on my Wii U.

I have tested only in Aroma environment.

This is really cool. I wish more homebrew ports incorporated the gamepad and touch controls.

Now I can finally play old LucasArts games on the TV without needing a fuckass keyboard setup with a table.

@Rrhapsody First of all, excellent work! Thanks for the time and effort you put into this.I’ve been testing it, and it works well with the two games I tried: *Monkey Island 1* and *Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis*. However, there are some issues when saving the game. The save itself works fine, but after save, when you push Exit to launcher (the Scumm launcher) or Quit (exiting to the Wii U launcher), the console often freezes, requiring a hard reset.
The same thing happens when you go to confirm or cancel using the on-screen keyboard; the console often freezes.

I hope you implement support for MT-32 and MP3 decoding in future updates. Thanks in advance.

I wonder if it would run Riven?

I have tested the LucasArts games only, but i think Riven works.

Thanks! Long live the gamepad!

I will investigate this issues, my friend.

If it can run Groovie engine games like the Eleventh Hour I will switch over from the official Wii version in a heartbeat.

Never heard. They are compatible with ScummVM?

Apparently Riven runs on the Mohawk engine...Where as this package includes only the SCUMMVM engine....edit So vwii SCUMM runs the Mohawk engine .... but performance will be vwii'ed.... I will stayed tuned**Awesome Job!

I can also confirm that with a folder scan, it can't find Riven, Myst, or the Masterpiece Edition. It also can't find Blade Runner. And this is simply from copying the files from GOG installs over to my Wii U SD card. I will try to get my hands on The 7th Guest and The 11th Hour to test those soon. But Fate of Atlantis goes work great. This is pretty amazing. Thanks for your hard work man

They are compatible on PC! I submitted a ticket to the devs a while back because the Wii version results in an "unsupported color mode" error with that small handful of later Trylobite games (11th Hour, Clandestiny, Uncle Henry's Playhouse, and Tender Loving Care). As far as I am aware, a fix has not yet been implemented. 😞

11 hour , 7th guest ....Riven, Myst .... With Touchpad, support ..... IS GOATED .......(hear that nintendo??....) ...that is like definitive edition shit...Maybe one day..

**edit, just checked out Blade Runner .... oh damn.

Only the SCUMM engine so far?
All I have is Quest for Glory, World of Xeen, and Blade Runner.

Might be an excuse to play Maniac Mansion...

So, I fixed the random freezes on the new release.
Also, MT-32 and MP3 are now compatible.

Tested MT-32 with Fate of Atlantis.
Testes .so3 with Sam & Max.

Does the Wii Remote work with it?

No, but the ScummVM already have an official Wii / vWii build.

My friends, great news on the new version 0.6.0.

I tested Riven and it's fully compatible, I think Myst will run without issues.
I tested 11th Hour ans it's fully compatible, I think 7th Guest will run without issues.
I tested Blade Runner too, played for several minutes.

Works like a charm, I have tested monkey 1 and 2, both with mt-32 sound (hair stands up like hooks) and runs perfect. Fate of atlantis now can play voices. Maniac Mansion works perfect too. You can crown adding the rest of the engines .. scrumm v7-v8, tinsel, sword, etc... Great work @Rrhapsody !!

This is incredible!!! I love that this can co-exist with scummvm Wii as well.

SO happy to see 11th Hour working on Wii U, but it looks like there are FMV issues with Groovie games.

11th Hour has slightly choppy movies and audio. Clandestiny crashes after the opening movie, and Tender Loving Care runs the fmvs too slowly to play (think 5 frames per MINUTE). Thinking this may be a codec sort of problem.

Uncle Henry's Playhouse fails to be recognized. Fairly certain the same files worked on PC.
