What kind of dashcams do you use? Do you have any recommendations?
TL;DR: These are the main aspects I'm looking for:
I currently have an Android Auto / CarPlay display with a reversing camera and front dashcam built-in. I got it mainly for the phone connection, but the other features were nice bonuses. I'm not necessarily looking to replace the whole system, but if y'all have recommendations for that too, I'd be glad to hear them.
Unfortunately, I have several problems with my current system, mainly the back camera not being on all the time (it's activated by the reversing light) and the complete absence of a parking mode (more on that later). It also allegedly has an app to wirelessly download recordings, but the link in the manual now leads to something with a completely different name and icon, which doesn't recognise my model at all.
About the parking mode: I live in a place where it's only possible to park on the street, and I've had the misfortune to one morning find my car with half the front bumper torn off and the only thing left behind was an amber light originating from a truck. I've made a police report, of course, but none of the nearby surveillance cameras caught anything (some of them only had a 24-hour buffer and by the time they got to them, it was too late) and I ultimately had to end up shouldering the entire repair cost myself. Thankfully, I have a good friend who's into cars and together, we could get replacement parts needed and do the work ourselves, which left me with more knowledge of my car and less money lost, but still, it would've been nice to just have that recording.

- Main things:
- Decent picture quality in day and night conditions. As long as I can read the plate of a person who ran into me, it should be fine.
- Front and rear camera, recording all the time. The back camera shouldn't just be a reversing camera that's only on sometimes.
- Parking mode. Either recording all the time or activated based on sound/movement.
- Optional niceties:
- Cabin camera.
- A ‘Save Clip’ or ‘Bookmark’ button or voice command. My current one doesn't have one at all.
- An app or standard protocol to get recordings off wirelessly. I don't mind fiddling with a microSD card, but it would be nice not having to.
