the RevA and Lowers are over a year old and alot of cards where stopped with the 4.5.0-10 and new cards had to be released but R4i-Gold RevCs could pass the latest check already, but a few cards found a way to get by using Demo headers which skipped the check but will most likely be stopped for good after the next update

r4ids.cn have released as many updates as they possible can for there older cards and all up to rev C are compatible with 4.4.0-10 and DSi 1.4.5
but Rev is the only one that can do 4.5.0-10 for now but they are working on a way to try and get the other up to 4.5.0-10 as well

It would be interesting to know if there are also different revisions of the Gold Plus cart.

When there are no, that would mean that even the oldest Plus carts can support the newest 3ds OS.

And in my eyes, this would be an advantage of the Plus cart, because you know, that when the cart gets blocked, they will try to fix that in software and not just release a new cart.

Correct me if I am wrong.

P.S.:
well any that where bugged, good retailers have replaced for the people having trouble with the latest cards for the cost of postage

The postage to china is very high, when you see it in relation to the price of the cart. And you would have to wait a loong time before you get your new cart, by which time the new cart could be already outdated again.

Also, maybe this thread could be merged with this one: http://gbatemp.net/threads/what-are-the-differences-between-r4i-gold-and-r4i-gold-plus.342989/

Gold Plus card card is that teams 3rd main revision card
the next 3DS update cannot be fixed with software tho as the 3DS firmware is now checking chips (save IC chip) to be exact
alot of flashcards dont have them and the gold plus doesnt
they only reason so many card survived this latest update is someone found 1 and only 1 header that wasnt blocked without a save ic chip so it passed the checks
this will get blocked in the next update and people will be buying new cards that pass the save IC chip check.

Supercard DStwo is the best card because it can fully emulate a cartridge, which no other cards do due to expensive cost to produce, but also reason why DSTwos cost what they do

china post isnt that long and the r4ids.cn team is pretty good with revision
hence why they have wood, YWG wouldnt support a card he think would fail

LOL at all the speculation in this thread. Oh, and *THE* compatibility list LOL...Pong you're delusional.
R4i gold Plus is better than R4i Gold 3DS and I do have both cards unlike anyone else in this entire thread.

That's right, but the r4ids.cn has been updating their carts for tons of updates, the only time they stropped is when they hit hardware limits (same type of thing that caused the Ak2i to stop).

This explains how modern flash carts get past the DSi/3DS checks, but note that more advanced carts (like the DSTwo) will pull a lot of the data off the MicroSD (instead of storing it all internally) so they're less limited in how they update (since older carts like the AK2i ran out of internal space on the cart itself).

The download page lists the following: DSi 1.4.4, 3DS 4.3.x, 3DS 4.4.x, and 3DS 4.5.x.

So there's nothing for DSi 1.4.5, and it looks like they just came in three 3DS updates ago.

So "they have never been blocked" doesn't mean much when they've only has three 3DS updates to live through. :P

I wrote an email to the team of the R4i Gold plus.

They told me that the R4i Gold Plus is not longer produced.

So I think its not a good idea to buy one at this time. :)

Is it piracy if it was released for free? Not in my opinion, but I also think it's not piracy if buying it isn't owning it, and it's not piracy if you can't buy it from the original creators anymore.
