Hacking quick questions about A9lh n3ds

Yeah its really long and awful, but it's all for the safety of your 3ds and the benefits are great in the end. The backups are the worst. So long.

How do I know if I have modified TWL? is this like bluecardfix or other fixes for r4? I really hope i don't get the error,that would be another 30 mins to an hour. Right now I am at the very minimum an hour away.

I had a patched TWL, and the downgrade worked just fine.

1. Copy your sysNAND_original.bin and emuNAND_original.bin backups from Section I to the root of your SD card
2. Reinsert your SD card into your 3DS then press B to return to the main menu
3. Go to "NAND Backup & Restore"
4. Restore SysNAND from sysNAND_original.bin
5. Restore EmuNAND from emuNAND_original.bin
6. Cross your fingers
7. Reboot!

I don't get this section,it doesn't explain how to get back into homebrew launcher to fix these things. I don't have homemenuxhax installed on emunand.

You do it from OTPHelper. HomeMenuHax wouldn't work from emunand.

You don't need to quit otp helper. just follow the steps carefully.

What should I check for as a mismatch?

Should I dump both 0x100 and 0x108??

You can dump both, there's not an immediate use for 108 and you can generate it from the 0x100 anyways. But since you're already there, might as well dump it. Only a few bytes.

OTPx100 is the important one, and the one you'll use to install A9LH.

EDIT: I installed a TWL_firm patch to use a DS cart but I made a fresh install of 9.2 FW before attempting to downgrade to 2.1.

Which version of OTP helper are you using? The mismatch is a TWL firm.

Worth it in the end. As long as you keep your OTP bin, you'll never have to do it again.

Even if you decide to go back to menuhax, you'll have everything you need to swap to A9LH in a minute.

yeah, there should be a warning or something at the beginning of the plailect guide that says something like "although this guide is only 6 pages long and looks deceptively short at first glance, following the guide completely & carefully will take between 5 and 10 hours on average, so please be advised of that before you begin."

otherwise it's a good guide with instructions that are safe enough & clearly written enough that it won't lead you to a brick if you have good reading skills & a lot of patience...

edit: actually, on the introduction page of the guide, it does mention that it will take several hours.

You use the safea9lhinstaller now which does it for you and checks if everything's a ok.

plailect has changed the guide numerous times because newer/better/safer methods for certain tasks keep coming out. so the method of compiling the a9lh from the otp has been changed a few times. it used to be a python compiler, and then there was a webpage that you could drag & drop the otp.bin onto, and currently it's the safea9lhinstaller app.

I successfully installed arm9hax,that took super long honestly. I honestly do not want to say it is noob friendly because it really is like 100 steps(no exaggeration) it took me the hours on hours but it is finally installed. How can I check to make sure I can safely update my firmware?
