Yeah its really long and awful, but it's all for the safety of your 3ds and the benefits are great in the end. The backups are the worst. So long.

How do I know if I have modified TWL? is this like bluecardfix or other fixes for r4? I really hope i don't get the error, that would be another 30 mins to an hour. Right now I am at the very minimum an hour away.

I had a patched TWL, and the downgrade worked just fine.

Section IV - Restoring the System
  1. Copy your sysNAND_original.bin and emuNAND_original.bin backups from Section I to the root of your SD card
  2. Reinsert your SD card into your 3DS then press B to return to the main menu
  3. Go to "NAND Backup & Restore"
  4. Restore SysNAND from sysNAND_original.bin
  5. Restore EmuNAND from emuNAND_original.bin
  6. Cross your fingers
  7. Reboot!
I don't get this section,it doesn't explain how to get back into homebrew launcher to fix these things. I don't have homemenuxhax installed on emunand.

You do it from OTPHelper. HomeMenuHax wouldn't work from emunand.

You don't need to quit otp helper. just follow the steps carefully.

Hey guys, I'm gonna use this thread as it is relevant to to it.

I'm also in the process of installing A9LH to my O3DS (first, and after my N3DS) and I am following Plailect guide.
I am at section II, here:
14. Open OTPHelper
15. Select "One Click Setup" and confirm. This can take a while

And when running OTPHelper I get this:

Checking title 0004013800000002...

Checking title 0004013800000003...

Checking title 0004013800000102...

TMD not found or corrupt

Validation Stage 0: SUCCESS

Validation Stage 1: FAILED

Validation Stage 2: FAILED

# TMD success : 111

# TMD not found : 1

# APP success : 111

# APP not found : 0

# APP fragmented : 0

WARNING: Validation Stage 1 failed!

!DO NOT RESTORE THIS TO SYSNAND!

Starting from scratch is recommended

Downgrade Validation failed!

You can not continue here

One Click Setup: failed!

EDIT: (Clicked on send before finishing) So I followed troubleshooting and did this twice and I still get the same error.
What should I check for as a mismatch?

EDIT2: How do I check the file hash to compare it against the ones from the list?

@Just Passing By

The guide only says to dump 1 otp.bin

Should I dump both 0x100 and 0x108??

@astronautlevel do you know if I have to dump both otps, the guide only says to dump 0x100?

You can dump both, there's not an immediate use for 108 and you can generate it from the 0x100 anyways. But since you're already there, might as well dump it. Only a few bytes.

OTPx100 is the important one, and the one you'll use to install A9LH.

Thanks gunner you've been bailing me out for months I appreciate members like you.

Which version of OTP helper are you using? The mismatch is a TWL firm.

Worth it in the end. As long as you keep your OTP bin, you'll never have to do it again.

Even if you decide to go back to menuhax, you'll have everything you need to swap to A9LH in a minute.

Im at https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki/Part-5-(arm9loaderhax-&-AuReiNAND) this is beyond ridiculous lol. Ive been at this for hours,I am exhausted.Fuck my life.....
yeah, there should be a warning or something at the beginning of the plailect guide that says something like "although this guide is only 6 pages long and looks deceptively short at first glance, following the guide completely & carefully will take between 5 and 10 hours on average, so please be advised of that before you begin."

otherwise it's a good guide with instructions that are safe enough & clearly written enough that it won't lead you to a brick if you have good reading skills & a lot of patience...

edit: actually, on the introduction page of the guide, it does mention that it will take several hours. :P

I mean to be completely fair I almost enjoy hacking the console more than I enjoy playing it lol,so I get a bit of a dopamine rush when I do something that can potentially brick and it does not brick.I took a break but I might just have to continue it tomorrow. I am fairly sure I have already climbed over the steepest mountain as far as this tutorial goes but I could be wrong.

I can't seem to find the part of the guide where it has me use my otp.bin to compile something using python. I remember people here would post their otp.bin to get it compiled to work with a9lh,am I missing something here?

You use the safea9lhinstaller now which does it for you and checks if everything's a ok.

plailect has changed the guide numerous times because newer/better/safer methods for certain tasks keep coming out. so the method of compiling the a9lh from the otp has been changed a few times. it used to be a python compiler, and then there was a webpage that you could drag & drop the otp.bin onto, and currently it's the safea9lhinstaller app.

I successfully installed arm9hax,that took super long honestly. I honestly do not want to say it is noob friendly because it really is like 100 steps(no exaggeration) it took me the hours on hours but it is finally installed. How can I check to make sure I can safely update my firmware?
