Hacking Questions on updating a9lh Luma3DS

I've been away from the 3ds scene for a few months and I'm wondering what I need to do to update my luma3ds. (last here when gw officially released their first arm9loaderhax.bin for non-a9lh setups)

I have one of the updaters installed but I don't know if they would work or even brick my 3ds, since the change in payloads and to luma's guide caused bricks if you mixed old with new or something.

So is it safe for me to go ahead and update using the luma updater I have installed (the ones with the 3d blue star banner)?

Or do I need to go through the whole process of installing luma, or even a9lh from scratch? (I still have otp but did update sysnand to 11.x using a9lh)

Any help would be much appreciated, thanks.

Luma itself is safe to update. That being said, you should probably update to the latest version of LumaUpdate (https://github.com/Hamcha/lumaupdate/releases) to fix some problems with updating to the latest release.
