ROM Hack Question Regarding What Files I can Delete Following Installing a Rom Via FBI

Assuming I copied the .3ds rom to my Micro SD, and then used godmode to convert to cia and then installed and deleted the cia, can I delete the .3ds or so I still need that?

You can delete it just fine. Not sure why you'd go through all that effort, though. Why use .3ds files at this point at all?

Is there an easier way I’m missing, barring the freeshop? I’m very new to CFW and using GM9 to convert and then install it via FBI made the most sense to me

there are certain sites where you can download .cia files, if you don't want to use freeshop for whatever reason. Freeshop is the standard method though, and incredibly easy.
