So to retrace my steps, I downloaded reHID because I thought it may be useful in the future, enabled it, realised it made ZL and ZR not work in games (still works in home menu), deleted the application (installed cia (which did nothing because thats not how it works)), found rehid.cxi then deleted it as well as deleting the 04013~ folder and its contents in luma/titles/ which the git says to delete when installing (which admittedly also probably does nothing but who knowsss)

what am i supposed to do i might be stupid

Best way I found to remove is from System settings. And delete Rehider app.
Once I deleted this and the 0004013000003302.ips file it fixed my ZL and ZR buttons in games!!
