Qlaunch custom Menue-Icon's

Qlaunch custom Menue-Icon's

I take no responsibility for your switch if you follow this guide!

HBL.jpg

Required:

- Photoshop

- Intel DDS Plugin for Photoshop - http://gametechdev.github.io/Intel-Texture-Works-Plugin/
- HxD - https://mh-nexus.de/downloads/HxDSetup.zip
- Toolpackage -http://snip.li/8LTII (too big for a direct upload)
- your own ResidentMenu.szs file

- extract the Toolpackage and copy your ResidentMenu.szs file into it

1.png

- drag and drop the "ResidentMenu.szs" over "extractSZS.bat"
a folder is created called "ResidentMenu"

2.png

- go to the following path: "Toolpackage\ResidentMenu\timg" and copy the "__Combined.bntx" file to the root of the "Toolpackage folder"
(you need them later)

3.png

to

4.png

- now, start BNTX Injector with a double click on BNTX_Injector.bat and open the __Combined.bntx file (path: Toolpackage\ResidentMenu\timg)

- follow the steps below to extract the icon file:

5.png

(RdtIconCtrl_00^s & RdtBtnDirY^t = Controller-Icon)
(leave BNTX open)

- the icon file was extracted to the root directory

6.png

- download and install the Intel DDS Plug-In
- open your icon file with Photoshop and edit it

IMPORTANT : Do not change the picture size and just use the color white to create your own icon!!!

7.png

- when done, go to "File" and then "Save As"

8.png

9.png

- an attribute window opens, select the following settings:

10.png

- go back to BNTK Injector and replace the original icon with yours

11.png

- uncheck "Use SRBG when possible" and press "OK"

12.png

Fist step done!
Now you have to fix the color levels!

- install HxD and open it

- click on "Analyzis" -> "File Compare" -> "Compare"

13.png

- (1) browse for "Source file" the copied original file from the root "\Toolpackage" directory "__Combined.bntx"

(2) and for "Target file", the "__Combined.bntx" with you custom Icon from the "Tool Package \ ResidentMenu \ timg"

(3) press "OK"

14.png

Note:

HEX_CODE Channels:
Zero = 00
One = 01
Red = 02
Green = 03
Blue = 04

original channels for Album-Icon: 01 01 01 02 (HEX)

18.png

custom Icon channels in my case: 02 02 02 01 (HEX)

19.png

- now you need to find the four modified color channels to repair them

to find the differences, press "F6" to see the next difference, again "F6"

17.png

you need to find the place where the value of your channels are displayed next to each other, above those of the original channels and below those of the custom icon

16.png

- if you find them, overwrite the values with the originals

20.png

21.png

- then make sure that the custom icon "__Combined.bntx" window is selected and click "File" -> "Save as" and save it to your desktop

22.png

- copy the "__Combined.bntx" from the desktop to "Toolpackage/ResidentMenu/timg" and ovewrite the old one

23.png
- open the "Toolpackage" folder and drag & drop the "ResidentMenu" folder over "createSZS.bat" its compress the "ResidentMenu.szs" and overwrite the old one

24.png

- create on your Switch-SD-Card the following folder path: atmosphere\titles\0100000000001000\romfs\lyt
And copy the "ResidentMenu.szs" file into \lyt

25.png

You also have to create an empty file called fsmitm.flag into following folder path: "atmosphere\titles\0100000000001000"

26.png

And last but not least, start your Switch with newest Layeredfs.

Done!

You just want the HBL Icon, Cartridge Icon or SXOS Icon ?

ok, guys. My question is simple... where do I get an already modded residentmenu.szs or how the heck I could dump an original one from my console instead? I'm on 6.0 and I need only this file. Tried even to rename the common.szs but nothing. Please help!

For this TuT you can use your own ResidentMenu.szs

Thanks for the tutorial. Could you also explain how to change the hover-over text to "HB Launcher" as shown in your images?

Sorry to bump, but I've been trying a lot of things to modify the NSO applet icon to be a custom HBL one, but I can't seem to find any reliable information on how to do so.
I already have the NSO redirecting me to the applet HBL, but I want to modify the icon as well and its name to match.

I wanted to try this tutorial out, but for some reason the ToolPackage download link seems to be dead.
Anyone has a mirror or an updated and reliable way to do what I described?
