How to get a custom user icon using DevMenuApp

Nintendo has officially responded to this with the following statement:

“A very small number of consumers have been using modified Nintendo Switch systems to display inappropriate or unauthorized material in certain online games. Nintendo always strives to provide a positive experience for all consumers and this includes continuously monitoring all threats to its products’ security and taking swift and strong action to prevent them. Modified Nintendo Switch systems have been banned.”

I am accept no liability if your console or account is banned from following this tutorial.

This tutorial will let you use any image you want as a custom user icon. I assume you already know how to use layeredFS and Hekate.

You will need:
- DevMenuApp exefs and extracted romfs (not romfs.bin)
- LayeredFS working through Hekate
- Donor title (Pokemon Quest confirmed working)

Step 1: Place the exefs folder and romFS folder in Atmosphere/titles/donortitleid as you do with all other apps

Step 2: Patch main.ndpm with the donor titleid.

Step 4: go to \donortitleid\romfs\accounts

Here the test icons are located, that DevMenuApp load in.

Take your replacement image (needs to be 256x256) and replace one of the icons in this folder.

Step 5: Put your sd card back into Switch and run Hekate IPL with LayeredFS patches.

Step 6: Open your donor title, and the dev menu should open. If not try a new donor title until it works (Pokemon Quest works)

Go to the account tab:

Now click on your user and edit profile image:

Now select the image you replaced and you are done!

This guide needs an update:
1. Get any devmenu.nsp (I recomend 6.0.1)
2. Download "FILES.rar", rename "DEVMENU ID" folder with your version ID.
3. Edit any image in "romfs\accounts", (I recommend indigo, because it's first on the list in devmenu) to your custom image.
4. Place the ID folder in "SDROOT/sxos/titles", or "SDROOT/atmosphere/contents".
5. Go to devmenu and change your image, restart is not needed.
6. Uninstall devmenu and delete its save data if you want.

Hmm..no way to do this without DevMenu right? No alternative homebrew out there? Its a shame I found this so late and DevMenu doesn't work on 10.0+ =(

Oh, didn't know DevMenu stopped working on 10.0+, dodge a bullet there.
Just wait somebody will make DevMenu work again like they did 6.0+, or there will be a new method:yayswitch:

PS. Or there is one option left if you are able to downgrade to 9.x or lower then do it, follow my guide and upgrade back to 10.x,
if making all of that for a user icon isn't to much for you, good luck:yayswitch:

Try this:
Hey I used this version on my file based atmosphere emunad, with 16.0.0 firmware and it works, (it does crash the console while doing it but my profile image was still changed, after restarting the console) I don't remember where I got it, because i did a full format of my old sxos emunand, and I downloaded so many things to bring back my console to live again, so I didn't keep track, but here it is, oh and i used this guide to make a working jpg file:
