No, you may not suggest that.

Even if you could, I'm against it. Not everything with the Wii needs to bii stupid.

Super Mariio Galaxy 2?

Is it possible to patch an IOS on reboot just as this patches the system menu? (I'm thinking "pussie backup launcher")

Not directly. This loader works, because it doesn't touch the IOS, so it keeps running and thinking that the program that is running is the system menu. Although you can launch IOS without installing them, but it's much more complicated and requires BootMii IOS to be installed. Sneek and cBoot2 are examples for that. It's also possible to patch IOS while they are running, Riivolution does that, but it's complicated and nothing that does it is open source.

Well, that's a pity. Risk-free, undetectable backup launching on virgin wiis would be a holy grail of sorts. Thanks for the answer, though

It does not work for me. I need help. I have downloaded both the bannerbomb and boot.dol, extracted teh bannerbomb, moved private and bot.dol to the root of my SD card, and then tried loading the boot.dol from the Wii screen and it keeps freezing. Why does this keep hapening to me?

Maybe a dismatch between bannerbomb and your current Wii`s version?

Never had such problems, however i have a first gen motherboard Wii, so everything works like a charm to me :3

Does it work for you guys? Seriously how many times did you have to restart your Wii to get it to work? The boot.dol I am talkkng about. This is pssing me off. THe pissingloader. How do you get it to work? My bannerbomb works fine for Homebrew and other hacks.

Does this work for everyone? It freezes for me. What type of FAT system do I need for this, 32 or default? Who else is experiencing the boot.dol freezing the Wii screen when loading it? This is my only problem and I would like help ASAP. Thanks to all.

The latest version worked on the first try without crashing. (4.2U, Priiloader disabled and Bootmii bypassed)

...what? How did you get this to run?
I made sure I was using V2, not V1. Please download V2 again and try again. V1 is very buggy, almost never works. I also made sure Priiloader and Bootmii were disabled. If I had Darkcorp installed, I'd consider that as a possible source of a problem.

Giantpune, once Bannerbomb is disabled, the days of pussieLoader are done for, right? I doubt it can be or ever will be run through Smash Stack / Indiana PWNs.

starting this from something other than a system menu based exploit would require it to have some sort of trickery to tell the IOS that it is the system menu. since people that are using this are doing so because their wii is otherwise virgin, that rules out a patched IOS. this would require some sort of IOS exploit that works on the newest IOSes.

since (1) i dont have any of those laying around, and (2) if i did have one, i wouldnt waste it on a program as 1 dimensional as this only to be figured out and fixed quickly, this program is pretty much dead past system menu 4.2.

Giantpune, has this pussieloader hack not worked for some people? I swear I have done all of the instructions right and the boot.dol still freezes on my wii screen whenever I try and load it. Please help. My wii is even 3.5 years old and system menu 4.2. Who here cannot get pussieloader to work other than me?

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages
  • Veho @ Veho:
It does that when I edit a post.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It inserts a newline in a random spot.
