Hello, I wanted to burn some games onto backup disks to use on the Playstation1. I've done a lot of research but i'm still not sure if i know exactly what i'm doing; i would simply like some input before i buy a bunch of stuff and start burning so i don't make a stupid mistake. Here's what i'm using:
Playstation (duh)
Breaker PRO Modchip Disk
IMGburn
CD-R disks (Verbatim or Sony)
my computer: Presario CQ56

I already know how to use IMGburn and all that, but i keep finding conflicting information about what brand of disk to use and what burn speed i should set it to. Any advice?

I always go for Verbatim, been using it for longtime cd-r psx and dvd-r ps2 and works like a charm. For the burn speed go for the lowest as much as possible cuz you dont want to burn that laser real quick, on imgburn when you put the cd-r on the disc drive you'll see "supported write speeds" eg. 10x. 16x , 24x. in that case you're gonna have to choose 10x, going lower will still put you into 10x since its the lowest write speed.

For speed, always go for the lower, not only for the laser lifespan, but for the data itself, as for the disc, if they are for PS1, you can use whatever disk you got, i never had problems with an disk, i got 400 disc´s for 10 bucks, at a flea market, they are HP, 200 dvd and 200 cd, all of them light-scribe, used some on the old days for the wii and never had issues, when i had a PSX, always use Sony, then they started selling on small stores verbatim, but honestly any disc will do the job, just write it at the lowest speed possible, Go for 4x, or 8x if possible. ;D

    But it's a dead end

If your internet speeds are fast enough. Streaming 4k takes alot. I used to only have 20mb sec, and 4k struggled. Now I have 300mb sec and 4k plays fine.

I think Game streaming should work like this.... Local Hardware able the run the game fine, game engine and common assets stored locally, all FMV and music and textures could be streaming

They went all in on streaming, should have been more of a hybrid approach

Or free government supplied high speed internet be nice also. Like Obama care. Xdqwerty that's cool, its time consuming but rewarding once done or playable, to see what you've made from scratch. Animations take forever, but worth it.

    @BigOnYa,
and the visual aspect of the game is quite crude (the sprite that looks best is that of the protagonist just because he is a stickman with sunglasses)

There is a bullets behaviour you assign to your character, that makes the code easier, under "behaviours"
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
i meant that when the character is pointing to the right, the bullets spawn where they should, but when he is on the right, they move to the right but the spawn point is incorrect
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Itch.io has lots of free assets also. Under the bullets behavior tab, there is a "rotate bullets" option, can try that. Or in the code can try
    - fire bullet Player.X(PlayerDirection)

That's cool tho, I'm proud of you going back to it, not giving up. It is difficult at first to learn, but fun once you get the hang of it. I think I've watched every tutorial video there is, but I still struggle sometimes to get stuff to work right. But gotta keep trying dif things, and eventually you will get it right.
