HWFLY chips will brick your OLED. Here is how to avoid it

First things first, I should start by saying that if you have an OLED-specific clone chip you're fine.

Anyways, all HWFLY Lite chips come with Spacecraft v1. For those that don't know, Spacecraft v1 sets certain pins to 5V that shouldn't be set to that on an OLED.

You can find more info in the readme of my application here: https://github.com/Pheeeeenom/payloadchecker

All this application does is check the payload that's currently written and checks it to verified hashes stored in the program.

Steps to follow are:

Boot hekate
Dump BOOT0
Check it on application

If you have a genuine modchip, update it to the latest Spacecraft v2 before you install it into an OLED.

The OLED-specific modchip also comes with broken USB debugging, if you want to fix this issue you will need to write this repaired firmware binary.

Good luck since the hwfly lite clones are locked.
I know they are locked. That’s why I asked if anyone is working on it. I should have asked in a more direct way I guess. I have the new OLED specific chip on the way but at this point I’m not willing to test if it can be flashed if I don’t need too!

The mcu's likely can't be reprogrammed, but since they're a reasonably accessible part they might be replaced by factory new microcontrollers, which of course won't be locked out. That is being looked into.

So those of us who bought hwfly lite chips and paid for install are basically screwed. And people who bought pre modded oleds are screwed to. Only people safe are people who can do the mod themselves and can replace the chip

Thank you for this! Hopefully this comes to fruition.

If the OLED has the OG SX Lite, can i update it without taking it apart again?
U have to connect to the mod chip with the usb cable. Write the firmware and then connect with putty and then turn the console one and hit E in the terminal to erase the payload.
