Why have you tried to downgrade 2 times anyways ?

I actually thought that might be a good idea... Old system stuff (besides firm) might have let the FIRM be downgraded... Obviously we have a solution now but it was a good guess

Nah, you can just downgrade the FIRM in place on 9.2 with the 10.3 firm. There's (currently) always a chance with this that you'll get bricked... No matter which try it is

I am not sure, but I think it means they fixed the bug that prevents proper downgrades. Anyone willing to compile and test it themselves?

Yeah it's a lot better to have a functional one than a bricked one.
Functional one at least you can still use to play legit (or at least HBL), and it can also be sold for a decent amount to put towards another lower firmware one.
Bricked one? Can't use it for anything but salvaging for parts.

At the moment, I have exactly £253 to spare, so I can simply dig into my pocket for around £90-120 and buy a brand-new 3DS XL on 9.2 or less. I was saving up for the NX, but I'm guessing it'll take till Christmas till it launches (that way me and my parents can go halves on the present! )

Well, I have tested on my O3DSXL.
Got from 10.3-U to 9.2-U.

My system was fresh, nothing installed, besides 10.3 homemenuhax
Now I just restored my factory NAND backup at 6.2-U using spiderhax, to make sure no leftovers nor problems arise, and will do the happy way of rxtools as if my system came from factory.

I have another O3DSXL with 10.3, but I don't have any NAND backup for this one.
Will wait for KTM, and until all issues are solved, just removed wifi access to ensure no update will be received from Nintendo, and will wait while I play with the other one.

I'm happy

How so? You can just take the SD card out and your 3ds works fine if something really goes wrong with the install. It isn't touching NAND

Is there any way to install CIAs so that I can take the microSD card out of my n3ds xl and put it in my n3ds and switch easily between the two depending on which I feel like using that day?
