Hello ppl im with labsdj in another forum and he did comfirm fight nigh4 and i can confirm afro samurai working on OFW 4.81

the steps taken was

1º backup ps3 and put the folder with numbers on BACKUP folder of injector
2º put the downloaded game from the russian list on the GAME folder of injector
3º run injector, do items 1,3 and S by this order
4ºCopy the folder generated at OUTPUT folder of injector to the usb
5ºrestore backup,restore database IN the ps3
6ºplay it!

this is only for games of the russian list that they say that works on ofw 4.80. All the others we havent figure it out but im looking for someone who can send the files that are transfered with the method of that 2 ps3 one CFW and one with OFW..if anyone can provide those files ill try them

Im in OFW 4.81

I'm also assuming I could always restore my 4.7 backup even if I updated to 4.81 to get them all back, so no harm in trying.Maximilious how did that worked out?and plz use afrosamurai or fight night cause we know that they work

I haven't tried anything since a couple days ago. I will give it another try this week sometime but I'm taking a bit of a break as it takes too long between attempts and such.

For anyone that got the inject working, are the backups used in Russian language or are the also in EUR/USA as well?

Got it, that won't work for me then. I assume it's the way the hack is written to work, possibly only with specific region games and such, so I will likely be out of luck until someone else on the other side of the lake or Europe works out the kinks.

Feel like I'm pretty close to getting this to work with Call of Duty: World at War. Game shows up in XMB, I click on it, game goes back to XMB, no error. Previously was getting the typical 80010006 or w/e it is error until I switched it to a hard drive game in PARAM.SFO. Firmware version 4.78.

Interestingly, though, even when I was getting the error, the game still attempted to launch. Trying it with MW3 just errors as soon as I click on it.

According to the Russian forum, it's related to LIC.DAT/EDAT, and older games (such as WaW, Afro Samurai, etc.) do not have a LIC.DAT/EDAT check.

I'd be willing to bet that the Backup Utility blocks EDATs from the unprotected archive (at least on firmwares higher than 4.70), hence why no game with an .EDAT check actually boots, because there isn't one on the hard drive. However, the Data Transfer Utility DOES copy those LIC.EDAT files, and that is why the newer games work.

Will keep trying and let you all know. No way I'm updating to 4.8/4.81, though! (PSN bypass still works on 4.78, so I've been using it for a long time now).

Update:

Tried Unreal Tournament III, which is another old game out of my collection that doesn't have a LIC.DAT check. I am able to boot the game, but it stays at an eternal black screen. It's likely I didn't copy all the necessary files or something. The system doesn't crash, though, because I can open the XMB. However, it does reboot the PS3 if I try to exit the game.

There is something to this method after all. I know these games will work, I just haven't figured out exactly how to make that happen. I'm close, though. Once I figure out a foolproof way of doing it, I will post a full English tutorial with pictures.

I was getting that error on Tales of Symphonia with firmware 4.70. I did not try the transfer utility to external drive but can give it a go. I wonder if we transfer to External and back to Internal if it would remove that error completely too.

It's my understanding that a game must have a patch available (otherwise the game won't have an EBOOT - there is no way to resign a disc eboot to run off a hard drive, and CONVERT.BAT intentionally doesn't copy the EBOOT as a result) otherwise it won't work. If Tales of Symphonia doesn't have any patch or update available, I doubt it will ever be playable.

I think the trick here is that the console believes the update EBOOT is the full game, and because an update EBOOT has no security on it in terms of licenses, the console will happily execute it, thus running the game. However, some games have the aformentioned LIC.DAT check, which I don't think is being copied by the Backup Utility because it's in an unprotected archive. If that is the case, then a separate exploit to copy LIC.EDAT/DAT to the hard drive will be required.

Also, I might've failed to mention that I only have one PS3. I am not doing the method in OP at all, because I don't have a CFW PS3, and I don't have my IDPS, so anything I speak of assumes that I'm using the Backup Utility and putting everything in Archive.dat (the un-protected archive).

"To do this, I need to backup and then restore my PS3"
- backup process estimated time: 9 hours.

Kill me.

THERE IS DOZENS OF PLACES.
DOZENS
Yeah I wish I had CFW so it could be done via ftp. Not as fast as lets say QMCA on the vita but still better then backing up, restoring a whole 320gb image. Maybe someone will make a tool that injects directly into the hdd of ps3. But I think that might need some keys to decrypt it's contents.

I see that on 4.81 they used the PS3 data transfer to bypass the edat checking that was patched by using the Pexploit method used by the PS3 backup/restore.

just wondering what if you got your IDPS for that specific PS3, what benefit would you have against not having one? can you resign the lic.edat properly so it won't get deleted?

Please everyone watch this video and the tutorial written down

Is it true or it's just kidding?

it's almost the same process with a little variation.... only weird thing about it is the custom generated NPEB lic.dat and ps3 import/export works on 4.81, won't hurt to try.

BTW a ODE 4.55 OFW data transfer to 4.81 OFW also works, tried NBA 2k17 and works

I would imagine that with IDPS you could put anything on your console with a backup. If you make a backup of your console with paid DLC in it, and restore it on the same console, the paid DLC is still there, so the .edat is definitely getting put into the backup, just in the protected archive. IDPS gives you the keys to putting anything you want in the protected archive.

I'm sure another IDPS grabbing exploit will eventually crop up. As it stands right now, IDPS is stored on everyones hard drive already (supposedly in the PSN Store storage), so all it will take is an exploit to get any file off the HDD. I have a few theories on how maybe to do this but I haven't experimented with anything yet.

I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages
  • Veho @ Veho:
It does that when I edit a post.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It inserts a newline in a random spot.

do y'all think having an sd card that has a write speed of 700kb/s is a bad idea?
trying to restore emunand rn but it's taking ages... (also when I finished the first time hekate decided to delete all my fucking files )
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the slowest non-sdhc sd cards are a few MB/s
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
@The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)
