Just walked into my local GAME and asked if Professor Layton was out yet and they looked at my like I was crazy.

''What's that? Never heard of it...'', ... ''Oh really? There was a massive advert for it in your front window about 3 weeks ago. Adventure puzzle game? Big in Japan etc?'',... ''We don't have anything to do with the adverts, Nintendo just set it up every so often'' he concludes.

Erm, great. He then grudgingly looked through their coming soon booklet, asked his co-host (equally stupid) and then told me to check the game.co.uk website ... where it's nowhere to be found.

Really wanted to buy it for my niece. Am I gonna have to import the US version if I want it now?

It is a shame that people that work in Game know NOTHING about games, I've said it before and I'll say it again, most should be selling shoes! Though at my local one there is this chick that seems really clued up on stuff.

On to your question, there is no date for Europe! It's even out in Australia now and yet nothing for us which is strange but I guess that Nintendo are getting all the translation done for countries that don't speak English.

My advice is to just get it from somewhere like Play-asia, not only will you get it sooner than here but it will be cheaper for you. Usually take 2-3 weeks to arrive.

Maybe because U.K and U.S speaks in English (British or no), Nintendo thought there's no reason to make the U.K. version, the text will be the same anyway (I'm right, am I?) the spoken English of British and American might be different, but how you type it will be the same, it might feels like making HongKong version after making Chinese version.

No the reason there isn't a release right now is because the UK version is the same as the Europe one. Seeing that the UK is fairly small, some publishers have to make it more worthwhile so they put French, Spanish, Dutch and other languages so that they don't need to do separate releases and risk making too many copies in one language.

I will admit that one does seem more interesting than the usual Ambernic ones, and I already liked those.

    I dread the price point.

This looks like one of their premium models, so... $150 :glare:

    To me that seems reasonable.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I mean since basically all the games are errmmm free lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean yeah sure but the specs are the same as a $50 model, it's just those pesky "quality of life" things driving up the price, like an actually working speaker, or buttons that don't melt, and stuff like that.

I think all in my Pi 4 was well north of 200 bucks 150ish for the Pi 4 the case the fancy cooler, then like 70 for the 500GB MicroSD then like 70 for the Xbox controller. But honestly it's a nice set up I really enjoy and to me was worth every penny. (even bought more controllers for 2 or 4 player games.) hmmm have never played any 2 player games yet :(
  • Veho @ Veho:
Yeah that's what I hate about the RPi, it's supposedly $30 or something but it takes an additional $200 of accessories to actually turn it into a working something.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
yes that's the expensive part lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean sure it's flexible and stuff but so is uremum but it's fiddly.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah a lot of it I consider a hobby, using Batocera I am constantly adjusting the collection adding and removing stuff, scraping the artwork. Haven't even started on some music for the theme... Also way down the road I am considering attempting to do a WiiFlow knock off lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I want everything served on a plate plz ktnx, "work" is too much work for me.
  • Veho @ Veho:
Hmm, with that in mind, maybe a complete out-the-box solution with all the games collected, pacthed and optimized for me would be worth $150
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah it's all choice and that's a good thing :)
