I got this 3ds XL and it's kinda pré-moded, but the mod seems to be kinda ancient. Let me describe what I have:
  • It uses a gateway card with a 2gb microsd and a 32gb microsd on the console itself
  • The 32gb card seems to have a version of Luma inside, even tho I don't know if the console is actually using it (here are all the files inside the sd root https://pastebin.com/raw/P1822Fhg )
  • Games seem to be able to launch without the gateway card inserted
  • It has Homebrew Channel installed
  • Firmware version in settings says: Sys 11.7.0-40U
  • There's a Luma updater v 2.3 icon in the menu
  • Inside the Luma Updater I get the following info: Payload Type: SIGHAX; Payload Path: /boot.firm
I didn't went online with the console just in case it's not banned. What is the best way I can wipe everything and update everything so I can go online more securely (in case it's not banned).

  1. Power off the system.
  2. Take out the Gateway red cartridge if it's in the 3DS.
  3. Boot the system while holding Select.
Which version of Luma3DS is displayed?

I get Luma3DS v9.0... seems to be a 2017 release, ancient as hell. Heres a picture of the entire output:

Your situation is easy. Follow these steps if you want a fresh CFW system:
  1. Download Luma3DS v10.0.1 on your computer
  2. On your 3DS, go to the system settings.
  3. In other settings, go to Format System Memory and format the 3DS.
  4. Power off your 3DS after it's done.
  5. Take out the SD card and put it into your computer
  6. Remove everything from the SD card if there's anything there.
  7. Put boot.firm and boot.3dsx from Luma3DS v10.0.1 onto the SD card.
  8. Put the SD card back and boot the 3DS.
  9. Go to system settings and perform a system update.
You're done. If you don't want to remove anything (games, etc.) from the system, skip Steps 2-6.

Edit: Going online is unlikely to cause you to be banned on the 3DS, particularly if you perform a system format early.

So just confirming: I won't get stuck out of my current exploit if I format the System Memory? I heard the firmware I'm in is only exploitable if I solder some pins, so I want to be sure I wont get reket.

Since you're using Luma3DS v9.0, that means you have B9S installed. B9S can only be explicitly removed by the user using the proper firm payload, and B9S cannot be removed by a system format.

No soldering is required on the 3DS.

Also, if it wasn't clear, the Gateway is useless and should be put aside. You won't be using it.
