I've been searching for a proper guide on how to use the network feature at home but I've found nothing.
What I would like to do is to play videos from my computer over lan. Where would I start?

Hi, there is some comments about this on the previous pages. Basically any web server with directory listing enabled may do it (you'll probably find a lot of tutorials on internet on how to setup a web server). Then you put your web server address in pPlay config file as stated in the readme.

Hi @AllisonAI , do you know if the problem of randomly closing movies happen from sdcard too?

Problem still persists on 1.4 from the Apache server, works fine at low buffer from my sdcard.
I would think this is an issue with pplay itself, not my internet. I can use a tool called Universal Media Server to stream the same movies to my ps4 and ps3 just fine.

Although it could certainly be possible it's an issue with Apache force closing the connection after a dozen or so minutes. I have no experience with Apache so if that is the issue then I've no idea how to not force close the connection after prolonged time.

Yes, this is probably a problem with pPlay or our current switch sdk. I will, for sure, look into it but this is not in a high priority to me (so much things to do with so less time :)).

I managed to make it work! The only problem is that I cannot open folders. It shows me videos which are in the root folder, I press on them(it takes about 1-2 minutes to start), but after that, it works flawlessly even with 1080p content. But for some reason whenever I press on a folder, it just jumps back to the top of the list. Is there something I'm doing wrong?

Tried some films on the new release, one everything ok, just one of them has bad sound, like eco, my info:

Os 6.2 atmosphere last version
Pplay 1.4 tested on all buffers

Video msmpeg4v3 1161 kbps 512x384
Sound mp3 @66kbps 48000hz

still having issues with the app not working on startup until i delete the files in the cache folder. very annoying is there any way to delete cache or something?

that happened to me at the begining, i think it was because at start the app had to scan a lot of movies, so i put each movie on a folder so it doesnt overload, maybe was that maybe not, but im not having more issues, try that

Hi, you can disable auto-scanning in the "pplay.cfg" file, there is probably a problem with a movie. This way you can load movie 1 by 1 (it will cache infos only when you load one) and see which one have a problem. This could help me to debug.

i have a super old dragonball torrent that has the file extension .rmvb.. any chance you could make this program play my file?

Sure, i didn't enabled all file extension to filter only media files, but i'll add rmvb in next release.

thank you so much! is there a way to auto-play the next file? i love this program for movies (plays everything), but for tv shows, i'd need an auto-play function

No, but i guess this is something i could easily add in the future (maybe i'll add playlist support first, which could solve the problem too).

you're the best! not sure if homebrew bounty is a vote-based thing, but you've got my vote!
Thanks :) Yes this is a vote based contest, i think sponsors can vote and premium users. I have a lot of hope with pPlay this month, as there was a lot, lot of work involved in it (ffmpeg, threading support, ui effects, etc..). But this is not in my hand :p

any chance for subtitles support Unicode?
Hi @anhsamac, this is not in the top priority, but i will support developement on the long term, so it may come in the future.

This is a great homebrew, I truly thank you for making this possible....

Thank you for the latest improvement.

But I've noticed 2 problems so far:
- Mkv's Subtitles aren't displayed correctly (long sentences are kinda messed up). Also, I don't know why but after ~5 minutes the video crashed, I had to reboot my console.
- I would appreciate a better navigation bar. When the player forgets the time to resume, it's frustrating to go forward minute by minute. It would be handy to choose the time beforehand!

Thank you again for your effort. ^_^

Hi @SethPDA, can you share some more details on what webserver your are using (and OS), and your webserver configuration so i can reproduce it? Thanks!
