Sorry Rayder... that Zeld guy, He's my new hero!

I wanna be his friend, I've never known anybody in person who made $1,000,000 for their coding. I'm definately not Gayy but I think I'd be willing to give him a reach-around.

I know this will start a huge debate here...and i know i just posted (i had to stop laughing first)...

You forgot the major term that can qualify you for a "Intellectual property" right, and that is actually copyrighting said material (and by copyright i mean by actually filing it and not just saying its copyrighted). Once that is done, you also need to post CLEARLY the owners legal contact information (weather its a publisher, a person, or corporation). Somehow i don't think you have done any of that. This also needs to be done for each region you wish to protect your works from.

I know you think you're going to win one over, but alas...pick up that copy of "law for dummies" and read a tad bit more carefully. You're lack of knowledge on this topic was very clear upon looking at your web page and you "declaring" you would be charging a million dollars per use of your material. In order to do that, you would have to prove without a reasonable doubt that you are in fact incurring a LOSS of a million dollars from someone using this code, and seeing how they are posted FREELY on your site with absolutely no password or membership requirement, all information falls under the freedom of information act.

Oh..and one last tiny detail, you need to not only prove that said material was stolen, but also present it to a court of law and have it debated over a trial which I am not only sure you can't afford, but would also be thrown out due to the above mentioned conditions (and your lack of fulfilling them).

Good day

Smart choice indeed. Personally I am anxiously awaiting his reply so I can toss in a few more details I purposely left out of my previous post.Â

I want him to come back as well, so I can

to him and kiss his feet. I think he's the next Jesus F'n Christ, his coding is more precious to me than the Holy Bible. I bet chicks just love millionaire coders, I wanna hang around him so I can get me some sweet tang.

btw rayder..thanks for the updates

He mentioned GSCentral.....

I remember a post a while back from a MOD of that site asking if they could somehow affiliate (or whatever) with GBAtemp, so I doubt anyone there minds any codes from that site being in this dat.

You see, apparently SOME code creators only want people to LOOK at the codes, not actually use them. We are supposed to bask in the glory that is the codes and
bow.gif
the people creating them. We are supposed to admire the pretty arrangement of letters and numbers. But USING the codes.....oh that's illegal.
rolleyes.gif

I'm not making a single penny by providing these codes. I do it out of the kindness of my heart and spirit of community, not for profit and not out of malice. I could keep compiling for myself and that's OK? But providing them for EVERYONE to use is illegal?

Never mind that Nintendo doesn't condone the use of cheat codes and considers cheat devices illegal already, though they can't stop them from happening. Never mind that the codes are being used on an illegal flashcart that allows people to play downloaded ROMs. Never mind the fact that all the codes in the dat are completely useless without having said "illegal" R4 or M3.

So I have to ask, what does legality or copyright or intellectual property have to do with anything we're doing here?

It's all illegal.

I find that some of his codes do not work as advertised so..... I'm gonna have to report Zeld's webpage to the The Federal Trade Commision(FTC.gov) for complaints about deceptive or unfair business practices. Also the IRS in case he forgot to report his $1,000,000 income per code on his Federal Tax Payers ID, I hear that they take that sort of income quite seriously these days. I should probably write to Freewebs as well since Zeld's codes infringe upon Nintendo's Copyright as well as all the other game developers Copyrights. Mr. Zeld seems to have broken just about all of freewebs terms of use/abuse policies(including a section about Hacking Related Content), also he is posting copyrighted material on Youtube.

Mr. Zeld is going to make alot of friends in the near future.

This thread is made of WIN, lol. This whole lawsuit ordeal is a paradox on its own. How will the creators manage to sue people over their codes being stolen? If that were the case, then the users have every right to sue the creators for "buggy and malfunctioning" products.

Not only that, but to appear in a court of law for a product used in the piracy world, I'm not too sure how successful that will turn out...

Edit : Oh, Rayder, thx for the constant updates to your USRCHEAT.DAT file. Great codes, clean order. I bow down to your efforts

We seem to be having some problems here.

Terms of Use

Read that.

Then, take my aim bot off of every single file you've uploaded. Seriously.

.......

Right, now this is seriously funny
Who was the one who put those codes into the game? It wasnt you was it? As far as I know the creators of the game own the code of the game, or maybe their shellcompany Nintendo.
Cheatsites decide to look for codes inside this game to go around certain parts of coding inside the game. Just because they found them doesnt mean they have copyright.

I may be totally wrong since I dont know shit about coding with GS ARC etc etc but what I do know is this

Cheating involves source codes
Source codes are property of their respective owner
If you choose to use this source code to create cheatcodes you need permission of the respective owner

So actually all those sites etc etc are in the wrong

Mr Zeld. How did those sites find out the codes?
Let me guess, they downloaded a ROM (wich they most likely do not own on a real cartridge) and hacked it (violation of copyright) and Im guessing they are still finding out codes wich means they have the rom for more then 24h (even more voilation of copyright)

The people that make the cheats should stop bitching and complaining seriously... If you dont get credit for what you do and it pisses you off jsut stop doing it

Its a hobby not a job

And Rayder what everyone else said cheers for the cheats that you stole from everyone and then you dare to say thank you in this thread and after that you did something horrible
You mentioned the people who made them
ohmy.gif
EVEN THANKED THEM
Its horrifying

no gundam..... untill you have experience hacking and coding you cant tell them to stop doing it. I was once into hacking and coding (hacked every online and offline game i played) and if i release something im sure as heck proud of what i did and what people to know that it was I. it does seem like these coders are going over board with the credit thing though. hackingissofunmansomanymemoriesofthegoodolddays

does the all ship parts on zelda work for anyone?

CodeJunkies had a few codes for Zelda (USA) that weren't already in the dat. They've been added.

As of this post, I will dispense with the "link in sig" I've been putting every time I update the dat.

But I'll still leave "

" 'cause I like it.

that fukin retard if we need to pay for them why did he post them for free and using free webs!!!!! enforced by what????? wtf
wtf.gif
and he has so fregin less codes go check that heiyhh guy and he has hundreds and shares them for FREE -hacking is so fucking simple if you have the right tools! how will you get 1,000,000$ from us call your ___?? like rayder said before or someone... r4 is illegal which ties to the codes why would its cost us go get paypal just to cover the codes up if you care so much

I'm not gonna lose any sleep over anything that guy said. You shouldn't either.

I have downloaded and installed Rayder's Usercheat.dat file (Thank you by the way)

However, i can't seem to use any The Legend of Zelda : Phantom Hourglass cheats.
Other recent cheats like jungle climber give me the option of pressing 'Y' to access cheats...the Zelda cheats don't give me the option.

Does anyone know why this is happening?

Hmm....I'm hearing a few people saying this.....about more than just this game too. I don't know what the deal is with that. None of the cheats have ever "gone missing" on me.

Things to try:

Make sure you're using a blank cheat.dat or none at all. You CAN run just a usrcheat.dat without a cheat.dat (and vice versa) in the _system_ folder. If the combination of the 2 files gets too large......well, I'm not exactly sure what will happen, but there is a limit to the max size and maybe a problem such as yours can occur if the combination of the 2 gets too big. The size limit rumored to be 4megs, but I think it's a little less if you take into account that the skin and the rest of the firmware loader take up space too. The dat currently measures in at 2.07megs whether it's encrypted or not.

When you add the updated dat, it's a good idea to delete old one first, don't just overwrite it. I have personally seen this cause the "missing cheats" issue. This is the ONLY way I've ever encountered this problem.

Maybe your microSD is fragmented. To properly defrag your microSD, copy the entire contents of the card to your hard drive, format your microSD, copy everything back to it. Avoid running a defrag program on a flashcard, while it MAY work, it's not recommended. I read somewhere that flashcards can be permanently damaged by using defragmenters on them.

Are you running the latest firmware loader for the R4? The latest is currently version 1.11. I kinda doubt this has anything to do with it, but it could.

Did you by any chance do an ARM fix on the ROM? If you did, THAT is why they aren't showing. The ARM fix alters the GameID and the cheats REQUIRE the proper GameID in order to tag itself to the game. ARM fixing Zelda for the R4 is not necessary.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

I really want to figure out why people are having this problem and try to fix it, if I can. At least nail down what is causing this problem to happen in the first place so we can come up with a plan to fix it without resorting to a lot of speculation.

I'm thinking it might be time for me to just start encrypting it into a regular cheat.dat. I'm not sure if that will fix the problem, but it might. The problem with encrypting the dat is that when I do that, the file doesn't compress down very far when I rar it. As a usrcheat.dat, it will compress to about 200KB. As an encrypted cheat.dat, it's around 2MB. That's a 90% difference in compression. I'm sure most people would rather download a 200k file that a 2meg one, but I'll leave that decision up to you guys.

As a test, here is an encrypted version of the dat:

CHEAT.rar Remember to delete the old usrcheat.dat if you use this.

Let me know if that works better for you. Please report in this thread if it works better or not. If it does work better, I'll just start encrypting it all the time.

Thank you for the feedback Rayder...i have fixed the problem.

You were right, the problem lies with the amount of space available in the firmware, 4MB
The firmware obvisouly tries to load the second cheat file and only has enough space for 75% of the games. (This would explain why a new game such as Donkey Kong Jungle Climber cheats were active...but The legend of zelda wasn't as they are loaded alphabetically.

The solution is to delete the old cheat.dat file (this was enough for my case) but also compress any images used in the current theme to a smaller size.

perhaps you should put some of this info in your signature. deleting the old cheat.dat is certainly the important step, as it really isn't needed anyway.

Thank you very much for the file and advice, hope this helps

edit: just a thought, to test to see if all the cheats are loading, fire up zoo keeper or something beginning with Z and see if they are available.

----------------
Forgot to give you some info about the setup:
R4 is 1.11
Zelda rom is not patched
SD card has never been defragged (3 months old however)
