I have downloaded and installed Rayder's Usercheat.dat file (Thank you by the way)
However, i can't seem to use any The Legend of Zelda : Phantom Hourglass cheats.
Other recent cheats like jungle climber give me the option of pressing 'Y' to access cheats...the Zelda cheats don't give me the option.
Does anyone know why this is happening?
Hmm....I'm hearing a few people saying this.....about more than just this game too. I don't know what the deal is with that. None of the cheats have ever "gone missing" on me.
Things to try:
Make sure you're using a blank cheat.dat or none at all. You CAN run just a usrcheat.dat without a cheat.dat (and vice versa) in the _system_ folder. If the combination of the 2 files gets too large......well, I'm not exactly sure what will happen, but there is a limit to the max size and maybe a problem such as yours can occur if the combination of the 2 gets too big. The size limit rumored to be 4megs, but I think it's a little less if you take into account that the skin and the rest of the firmware loader take up space too. The dat currently measures in at 2.07megs whether it's encrypted or not.
When you add the updated dat, it's a good idea to delete old one first, don't just overwrite it. I have personally seen this cause the "missing cheats" issue. This is the ONLY way I've ever encountered this problem.
Maybe your microSD is fragmented. To properly defrag your microSD, copy the entire contents of the card to your hard drive, format your microSD, copy everything back to it. Avoid running a defrag program on a flashcard, while it MAY work, it's not recommended. I read somewhere that flashcards can be permanently damaged by using defragmenters on them.
Are you running the latest firmware loader for the R4? The latest is currently version 1.11. I kinda doubt this has anything to do with it, but it could.
Did you by any chance do an ARM fix on the ROM? If you did, THAT is why they aren't showing. The ARM fix alters the GameID and the cheats REQUIRE the proper GameID in order to tag itself to the game. ARM fixing Zelda for the R4 is not necessary.

I really want to figure out why people are having this problem and try to fix it, if I can. At least nail down what is causing this problem to happen in the first place so we can come up with a plan to fix it without resorting to a lot of speculation.
I'm thinking it might be time for me to just start encrypting it into a regular cheat.dat. I'm not sure if that will fix the problem, but it might. The problem with encrypting the dat is that when I do that, the file doesn't compress down very far when I rar it. As a usrcheat.dat, it will compress to about 200KB. As an encrypted cheat.dat, it's around 2MB. That's a 90% difference in compression. I'm sure most people would rather download a 200k file that a 2meg one, but I'll leave that decision up to you guys.
As a test, here is an encrypted version of the dat:
CHEAT.rar Remember to delete the old usrcheat.dat if you use this.
Let me know if that works better for you. Please report in this thread if it works better or not. If it does work better, I'll just start encrypting it all the time.
