No, don't rename it cheat.dat, that won't work. Cheat.dat is encrypted, usrcheat.dat is not. You can run them both in the same folder, but in many cases, you will get 2 cheat buttons in your game selection that lead to the same cheats if they both have the same codes.

At any rate, just drop the usrcheat.dat in the _system_ folder along side the cheat.dat. Or, if you download one of the COMPLETE usrcheat.dat's, you can just use that and delete the cheat.dat altogether.



Personally, I'd like a COMPLETE cheat.dat that is encypted so it's a smaller file. Anytime I try to load one of any the usrcheat.dat files files myself with the R4 cheat editor, I get an error and the program wants to close. I don't know what's up with that. So I want a COMPLETE encrypted cheat.dat file with all the latest codes, please. Backlight codes being included would be nice, but aren't necessary. For now I'm just using the one Scrawl made, but it's a usrcheat.dat and not an encrypted cheat.dat and I just deleted the cheat.dat so I don't get 2 cheat selection boxes on every game.

Leave it as usrcheat.dat & place it next to your cheat.dat file & your all set.

Now when you have a game listed in the usrcheat.dat file a option at the bottom will tell you to press Y to access the cheats for that game.

when i try to open this file with the cheat editor, an error pops up then it closes the cheat editor..
