I think I have an idea as to how Neimod was able to decrypt and re-encrypt the Lego Star Wars 3DS save file. If someone has access to both the 3DS and the regular DS game cartridges, they could initialize the two game cartridges, then copy the saves to a computer using the USB save dongle. Because the save for the regular DS un-encrypted, then one would just have to compare the two files and make an encryption key for converting to/from DS save <----> 3DS save. As they are the same game, and there were no additions/subtractions* from the games aside from the 3-D aspects, the two versions would hold the same exact data.

* when I say additions/subtractions, I mean console-exclusive content and "stuff wasn't able to be ported, so it was just cut out altogether".

Yeah, I thought about it, and I tarded out. It was a thought, and even if it did work, it would only be on per-card basis.

I feel like Patrick Star right now; this quote perfectly describes how I am feeling.

Lol don't sweat it. Very very few people know exactly how he did it (just conceptually maybe). It's the stuff that only a few genius minds (and often not alone) can figure out.

It is still a possibility though. I do not mean that my idea would create the system's common key/private key, but rather it would enable a pseudo-key for "unencrypted" to "encrypted" save data. Think of it as encrypting an already encrypted file

You probably thought I was talking about the common/private keys, correct???

can't you emulate a fake eshop using dns or router firewall rules?
IF the 3ds get generic data from the eshop and later encript it..
it can download anything from a fake eshop..

It won't run things that aren't signed by Nintendo...

What Rydian said plus the fact that signing happens at Nintendo's servers.

but this sign is generic to all 3ds's or is exclusive? is it is generic it can be cloned[i guess]..
The keys are unique for each system.
It's a 256bit encryption i.e not even aliens can brute force it, i.e there's a better chance asking Nintendo to unlock the system for us.

32-bit
4,294,967,296 combinations.

64-bit
18,446,744,073,709,551,616 combinations.

128-bit
~34,028,236,600,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 combinations.

256-bit
~11,579,208,800,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 combinations.

Good luck finding that key without some exploit.

I know that is impossible t find this kind of key.. is harder than find the key to that .rar from the infame youtube video..
is was just wondering if it was a single shot to all systems or is a mission impossible..

i think 3ds will be hack using game cards like super mario 3d land since this cards can access the system. but of course they need to find a way how to hack the game cards itself and to make sure it still work................:ninja:

Hello (I'm new bla bla) I don't know anything about hacking (Anything), but what if somehow we put the 3DS rooms in the SD Card, then put the game you want to play (Only one) in a folder apart, then you put a special 3DS Card (not a game or anything), in the slut slot, this card will emulate the room from the lonely folder with the 3DS room in the SD card, and then magically somehow the 3DS will think that the card i'ts actually that game and will appear in the menu as the game itself (IDK if I explain myself correctly, I'm from Venezuela, we don't speak English, so, sorry for any miss understanding).

.... And how do you know an alien could pull a serious amount of calculations per second XD? What if an alien's computer equivalent could pull around a few yottaflops of calculations per second? That alien could take down the entire government's mainframe with that thing probably...With that kind of power it could probably run an AI to find Vulnerabilities at the same time....

i wonder if the will make a petit computer like program for the 3DS or they will release or the will not or something. anyone?

Will not happen until people crack the encryption key. 3DS will not run anything that is unsigned.
