It was part of a whole artsy fartsy performance art project where they also mailed acorns to heads of states involved in the war, and did interpretive dance or whatever. If they had Facebook back then, they would have put something platitudinous in their profile picture (they would have had one account, I'm pretty sure of it). They did interviews in bed and held press conferences. Not as brave or involved as the people getting baton'd in the face at actual protest marches, but with a better press coverage because they were celebrities.
