I did some searching and found that msata drives are given 3.3v as per standard spec so power supply direct from the vita shouldn't be an issue.
I've also seen a 3g2sd adapter that uses the msata slot to mount micro sd cards with a circuit board doing conversion plus usb mods for mountable storage off of the msata port.
So is it possible to use the msata port (which originally holds the 3g and compass module) directly with an msata drive, does it need something else on the software side to be recognized as a drive?
I've seen those usb mods use vita shell to mount the usb drives. I can understand it needs to be a certain format like fat 32 or exfat.
But would there be anything else to consider? Has anyone attempted this before?
