Hardware Possibility of using an msata ssd in the msata slot of a 3g vita model

I did some searching and found that msata drives are given 3.3v as per standard spec so power supply direct from the vita shouldn't be an issue.

I've also seen a 3g2sd adapter that uses the msata slot to mount micro sd cards with a circuit board doing conversion plus usb mods for mountable storage off of the msata port.

So is it possible to use the msata port (which originally holds the 3g and compass module) directly with an msata drive, does it need something else on the software side to be recognized as a drive?
I've seen those usb mods use vita shell to mount the usb drives. I can understand it needs to be a certain format like fat 32 or exfat.

But would there be anything else to consider? Has anyone attempted this before?
The only other resource i could find on this idea was on gba temp but the op of the thread had said they were going to use usb conversion and no further details were given.

After further research it seems i was mistaken the port is actually a mpcie bus.
And apparently only has support for usb 2.0?
This seems strange considering it was used to connect to a 3g module. But then again in this article:

Yifan Lu mentions that he converted two ports that the 3g module communicated with the vita into debug ports which would explain why the usb 2.0 protocol could be used for this purpose.

Without pcie or sata protocols an ssd cannot be directly installed into this port so...

I guess i answered my own question its not possible unless you use a circuit board to translate the msata or mpcie sata and pcie protocols to usb 2.0

What's weird? Almost every 3G/4G modem is USB 2 (wouldn't exactly benefit from more, plus the miniPCIexpress socket has nice dedicated pins to connect an external SIM reader - usually integrated in qualifying laptop motherboards - to the actual card)
Even now that newer wifi cards are M2, cellular modems typically stuck with minipciexpress

(Not that, as you and Yifan found out, Vita is exactly minipciexpress...)
