Well, most Pokemon there are level 17-19 I think, so if it were me, I'd use my level 27 Bidoof and keep spraying there.

Yeah I was asking so I could do the max repel thing. I'll probably just go after Darkrai later. Right now I'm near the Safari Marsh Zone.

Hey, great edit! I always wanted to play a challenging Pokemon game and this is it! Getting smashed by Umbreon was really fun.

Just a quick question, can someone please tell me where to find Zangoose? I've searched most of the spots, but I just can't seem to run into one.

Ok so I did the new dstt way because I'm using YSmenu. I got the 99mb platinum. But I can't get the cheats. Is there a new cheat database or somthing?

May i ask did anyone have trouble getting squirtle? No joke, ive spent 5 and a quarter hours with the emulator sped up slightly..... looking for a squirtle on route 202 ive seen and caught all other starters had trouble finding 3 others but after 5 + hours im starting to think either hes not here or i have a bug =/..... jus want to make sure all you guys caught him there? and hes nowhere else to be found? My dratini is now a dragonair at level 29 please help me........... I WANT TO ADVANCE!!!!

@Kai, the cheats are the same for the unpatched game. So either the cheats don't appear because the trimmed ROM has a different gameID, or you don't have the Platinum (U) cheats.

@Irish, I was able to catch it in 1.2 and I don't think he was removed from 1.3, perhaps the time of day starters as mentioned in the release info are appearing more often and reducing your chance of seeing it.

Nah read over the files readme changelog thing n says that all starters are catchable there.... and hes not one of the "Time of day" pokemon listed..... God damnit! cud it be a bug for me?

how do i know if i have a different game id?
i thought cheats were dependant on the games file size

CPUE 973C3ECE

The clean and the patched version had different game IDs.

Darkrai can be found at level 30.

To get SQUIRTLE easier,
Have your lead pokemon's level to 4.
Then use REPELS. You should only encounter few starters including squirtle.

so, again with an issue, for those who use the emu like me, where can i find the evolution stones? as Im wondering other than the underground there arent an awful lot aint it?

It's pretty much complete (just have to check Route 230, which shouldn't take long). And probably check to see which pokemon appear at honey trees, the safari game and the Trophy Garden (cause there seems to be quite a few pokemon missing from the enc_data.narc file, including the legendaries you can catch in the original Platinum, but I believe they're located somewhere else).

I'll put up a list of missing pokemon once the guide's finished.

Yes, you can see them again, as long as they aren't event pokemons.

So how do i get the cheats to work?...I fail...

Open your cheat code editor, and change the game ID.
What flashcart do you use?

If you use r4 or dstt,
download an usercheat.dat with pokemon platinum cheats,
then download r4's cheat code editor. All of these can be found
in the download archive. You can also import cheats with the cheat code editor.

Open the cheat code editor, open the usercheat.dat, find the pokemon platinum game, duplicate
the game/game's cheats, and change its game ID, which is same as the patched version's game ID.


edit: I rushed this one, and I know it's vague.
Don't forget to use the untrimmed patch.
