Does anyone think its cheating if i use my bros copy of HG to get all three starter pokemon on my SS? Iv done this since Blue and red, and always had a team of:

The 3 starting pokemon, Pikachu/Flaafy, Abra and Geodude, raised throughoutt the game

Always thought that was a pretty good team

It's not cheating, it's just legit trading.

I do the same thing, but in the end I end up getting rid of two of the three starters cause of other pokemon I want in my party.

For example I probably will switch my Feraligater with a Dragonite just because Dragonite is better in every way

Apparently not. It does stuff like "Pretend not to notice", "Loaf around", "Look away".

Yup. Just gave Mr. Pokemon's egg back to Elm. Headed to the first gym, but I keep having to battle trainers making me level even more. Level 12 now. I should catch a Pidgey or something.

Did you use a savegame from a different version of the game/japanese?

If so, thats why it doesnt work, the secret trainer number is different if you use a different file, so it appears traded.

Did you use a savegame from a different version of the game/japanese?

If so, thats why it doesnt work, the secret trainer number is different if you use a different file, so it appears traded.

I used the same save game but I did edit my name into english using PokeSav. I'm playing the translated game. Could this be the problem?

Yeah. Check your Pokemon OT. They will be different from you name. SO the game thinks you are playing with traded pokemon. Just change your pokemon's OT to yours.

Seems like that IS the problem

That is also why your pokemon probably gain boosted Exp. when fainting enemy pokemon, confirm this for us please
