ROM hack of: Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon (3DS)

Pokémon Supernova Sun and Penumbra Moon are mods for Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. Like my Rutile Ruby & Star Sapphire hacks and my Nova Sun & Umbra Moon hacks, their main purpose is to provide a more challenging game experience while not artificially limiting the player. The premier feature of Supernova Sun and Penumbra Moon is the ground-up redesign of Pokémon Trainers in the world to increase the game's challenge. Every trainer in the game has been edited, and the level curve expects use of the Experience Share, which means that the player levels up very quickly. Every Pokémon in Trainers' teams has a a proper moveset and many are holding items. The Elite Four and Champion are Level 100, and the player doesn't need to grind to equal that!

Supernova Sun and Penumbra Moon's secondary focus is inspired by Super Smash Bros. Melee's "20XX Hack Pack" which is designed to improve competitive players' ability to practice and grind. In Supernova Sun and Penumbra Moon's Legit Build, everything obtainable is 100% legal and legitimate for real online battles or trades. In all Builds, some features are designed to make preparing competitive teams much less of a hassle. Competitive hold items are much more available, a 6IV Ditto is available through an in-game trade (holding a Destiny Knot), Eggs hatch in one cycle, and Level 100 Memento Blissey battles are available in the Battle Buffet once the main story has been beaten.

This shouldn't be possible unless your team is like... Plusle, Dunsparce, etc.
Myself and my beta testers beat the game with non-optimized Pokemon and absolutely no overleveling.
Try implementing more strategy into your team-building and play, instead of overleveling to try to steamroll like in a default Pokemon game.
That was..unnecessarily hostile

There's only so many ways to tell someone nicely to "git gud".

At the end of the day it boils down to playing pokemon better to get through this hack. You can't steamroll your way through the game with earthquake like you can in the original game.

"Yes, you should EV train your Pokemon since the rom works as advertised" = "aww shucks, I can't earthquake" ? Brilliant deduction, Watson.

Hello! I just found this rom hack earlier today, and I would like to use it to record a let's play. I am, however, experiencing some issues that I am not sure how to resolve. I built the modified rom with the randomized encounters and everything, but the citra emulator cannot open the file for the .3ds rom, and gives me this error message:
[ 5.581727] Service.FS <Warning> core/file_sys/ncch_container.cpp:OpenFile:109: Failed to open C:\Users\joeyl\AppData\Roaming/Citra/sdmc/Nintendo 3DS/00000000000000000000000000000000/00000000000000000000000000000000/title/0004000e/001b5000/content/00000000.app
[ 5.581933] Core <Critical> core/core.cpp:Load:114: Failed to load ROM (Error 1)!
Is there any way I can fix this?

That sounds like an error on the virtual SD card. Did you install an update for the game? Do you have save files you care about on Citra? If you don't have any save files on Citra, delete the %appdata%\roaming\citra folder and try again. You shouldn't have to rebuild the ROM again.

But the guy wasn't playing badly or anything. He answered a question and said you can EV train. Then Dio goes off on him like he's insulting the hack or not playing the way Dio seems to want people to play

Quick question, do existing modifications like walk speed increase and instant text speed up still work with this installed? Or does the romfs change make the code file incompatible?

They work, but make sure the version matches. If you're using the recommended drag and drop method, you should use the code.bin patches designed for the latest update of Ultra Sun / Ultra Moon. If you're using a compiled CIA install, you should use the patches designed for Ultra Sun / Ultra Moon v1.0.

Note that the "faster walk speed" causes issues with the Machamp "Strength" puzzles later in the game, a certain area in Vast Poni Canyon is impassable with the faster walk speed code enabled.

Notice: Supernova Sun & Penumbra Moon v1.0.4 Release!
This update is primarily to provide compatibility with Version 1.2 of Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon for the Drag and Drop install method. Drag & Drop installs of this ROM hack now require Version 1.2 of Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon.

Honestly, I don't think i'm going through with that. That's why I deleted that from the OP. It's much more of a pain than it's worth, and it took people a lot longer to qualify than I expected. I don't want to be releasing v1.0.5+ with the only change being "added an easter egg trainer".

Apologies to anyone who qualified.

Understood. Can I make a request? To have a lvl100 trainer with 6 poke that can be rematched once a day? (I like to test teams and there is no rematch option in gen7) Thanks!

The Elite Four/Champion are at Lv100 and can be repeated as many times as you like.

Good day to you, Dio, and thank you for this great rom hack!

I have a question to you. I'm using your documentation to some more information about where can I catch this and that pokemon. But I don't find some pokemons, like Charmander, Squirtle, Chikorita, and some others starter pokemons in your file "Wild Encounters.txt". So, is that any chance that it's just missing in that file, or you don't implement this pikemons into wild encoumters in your rom hack?

P.S. Sorry for my english.

Your Sun and Moon hacks were way too easy, I was always like 3 or 5 levels higher than my opponents. I got bored because it was so easy and stopped playing around the rock kahuna. But then I started replaying with the EXP Share off and it was a fun challenge and opponents wound up being like 8 levels above me and I actualy started to lose sometimes and start using some items. But I feel like I wasted half the game on easy mode, so my question is did you increase the level growth rate in USUM or should I just play with EXP Share off.

The hacks are balanced around the EXP Share, so you should have been keeping pace with the NPCs.

Well I wasn't I was always way higher than them. Maybe because I kept catching the new pokemon I found and that raised me too high. But I still think there are way too long of stretches where the NPC trainer levels stay the same and my pokemon are going to wind up way above them. Plus the opposing trainers should be on a higher level they shouldn't be trying to stay equal, but I wasn't even equal I was higher.
